One of Portland's finest songbirds, Mr. Andrew Alikhanov, was recently the victim of a devastating car robbery that stripped him clean of everything. Most notably, the beloved clarinet this fine gent uses as a giving conduit to inject positivity into a rare community.

Here's a photo of Andrew in his natural state: bringing people joy.

You've heard his horn with Hot Club of Hawthorne, Three for Silver, S**t City Jellyroll Society, and The High Water Jazz Band just to name a few. But his sweet sound has now been silenced. Please consider giving a little or a lot to help this friend of the scene get back on his feet so he can continue feeding yours.

About a month ago, 472 patrons booked passage for a grand affair that featured nine bands, four DJs, and three dance acts. Their support in tangible form built a lasting memory for the many brilliant artisans on deck throughout the day.

As thanks for helping sustain this small yet important part of the scene, a gallery from this year's endeavor has been gifted below. Pictures can be used for however seen fit, long as they aren't sold for profit.

Please enjoy this short story of an inspiring local scene as told by Portland Lindy Society. It presents just one example of the beauty found in bringing independent artists together to celebrate an era that changed everything. What a day. What a night. What an amazing community.

If you’ve ever wondered if Portland musicians appreciate dancers as much as we love them, wonder no more. Inspirational Beets Jacob Miller and the Bridge City Crooners, The Swingtown Vipers S**t City Jellyroll Society Three for Silver Hot Club of Hawthorne Pink Lady & John Bennett Jazz Band Joe Baker's Jellyroll Jamboree, Karolina Lux, and various other local acts who contributed to the Stumptown Speakeasy, pooled their proceeds from the event and in one grand gesture, donated it to Portland Lindy Society.

We truly appreciate the trust in us as stewards of these funds. As a nonprofit organization, we take what we get and give it directly back to you, our diverse community of dancers and musicians. Thank you so very much. Also, a special thanks to Pace Rubadeau for spearheading the event and this incredible gesture. We love you all.

Tickets are live for the final quarterly installment inspired by Stumptown Speakeasy! This road-trip to remember will feature acoustic rolling soundtracks courtesy of Three for Silver and a handful of other nostalgic storytellers performing on chartered school buses traveling to a century-old ballroom found thirty minutes outside of Portland.

Upon arrival, you'll be treated to dance hall jubilee by Hot Club of Hawthorne, Jacob Miller and the Bridge City Crooners, Portland Rhythm Shakers, and Inspirational Beets. Breaks will be handled by local swing DJs and a special performance from Pete Krebs and Leslie Beia of The Earnest Lovers.

Pete and Leslie will also be your honored emcees for the evening.

Booking passage on this vintage adventure is simple as can be with a mighty kind fee. It's just $15 for the show plus safe travels to and fro.

Overhead for the community celebration is quite high, and the only way it will come to fruition is through advance tickets purchased no later than Friday, September 12th.
