In November 2015, Microsoft made a major update to its new Windows 10 operating system. This update eliminated bugs and made improvements. If you haven't already, it is time to consider updating to Windows 10.

ANNOUNCEMENT - The STPS Board has elected Dick Thompson to be the STPS Chairman to fill out the remainder of the term of STPS Chairman, Hal Mozer. Hal retired as Chairman on August 18, 2015, but will remain on the Board as Past-chairman and will continue to provide assistance at the labs and maintain updates to the STPS web site.

Installing Windows 10 is a mixed, sometimes thrilling, sometimes frustrating experience. The best advice for most people is to wait 2 or 3 months before upgrading to Windows 10. In just 2 weeks there have already been two Windows 10 patches released to fix various problems. There is no rush to upgrade; Windows 10 will be a free upgrade until July 29, 2016.

All hands on tech: Savvy seniors receive schooling on Internet safety - The Spokesman-Review Baby boomers are, in general, technologically savvy, Skyping grandkids, texting friends, shopping online and banking from laptops and smartphones. Yet these seniors, like the majority of Washington adults, often forsake security for the ease of logging on anytime or anyplace, especially through free Wi-Fi networks, said Doug Shadel, the state director of AARP Washington, during a cyber-safety presentation to about 200 seniors in the Spokane Valley last week.
