AGA - Vice President Ted Irwin
Northwest Gemological Laboratory
"In the mid-90’s, when researching an industry association to join, the AGA stood out as a group dedicated to furthering gemological education. The yearly Tucson conferences provided invaluable new information and allowed me to make associations with some of the industry’s top minds. I highly encourage all gem and jewelry appraisers to become members. The new Board is motivated to greatly expand our platform of services and I look forward to helping propel that endeavor."

About Ted: Ted has a forty year career as an independent appraiser of fine jewelry at Northwest Gemological Laboratory, Bellevue, WA. He also teaches small-group gemology classes at his affiliate school, Northwest Gemological Institute and has contributed to gemological training courses by other industry professionals. His Northwest Jewelry Conference is one of the industry’s prestige events for estate jewelry education for collectors, historians, dealers and appraisers. Ted has written appraiser-centric articles for Gem Guide and is on their advisory board. He is an Independent Certified Gemologist Appraiser, through the American Gem Society, Accredited Senior Gemologist through the Accredited Gemologist Association with lab certification by both the AGS and AGA. He holds memberships with the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers, Scottish Gemmological Association, Association of Independent Jewelry Valuers and the American Society of Jewelry Historians. He is credentialed by the Insurance Commissioner’s Office in the State of Washington and received a Bachelor’s of Art in Business Administration from the University of Puget Sound.
