Curriculum Night is a fun and informative event where you get to pretend to be your student! Doors open at 6:00 pm with welcoming music from TMS Advanced Band and info tables on Activities/Sports/PTA/BSF. The evening officially kicks off at 6:15 pm in the commons with a welcome message from Principal Steere followed by the opportunity to follow your student's schedule!

Here's a building map and schedule to fill: https://tillicum.bsd405.org/fs/resource-manager/view/c835c481-de02-43f9-b8c0-73282843b13e You can see your student's schedule in ParentVUE: https://wa-bsd405-psv.edupoint.com/ but this is a great time to sit with your student to fill it with you and talk about where to find the classrooms!

Insider tip: This is an immersive event, so wear comfy shoes! You'll actually be visiting your student's classes according to their 7-period schedule (complete with school bell), and since TMS has three levels, you'll probably be going up and down stairs a few times!

Insider tip 2: Bring a notepad for notes you want to remember! Teacher presentations don't automatically get emailed to you like in elementary school!

Let's celebrate the start of a new school year with an evening of hanging out with friends! ASB is hosting a Fall Dance on Friday Sept. 27th from 6:00-8:00 pm. The theme is TMS, so wear blue, orange, or your best tiger gear. There will be music, concessions, and games.

Tickets are only sold during lunches; students will need to bring a signed permission slip and $5 to purchase their ticket. Permission slips will be handed out in 7th period classes and will be available at the front office starting next Wednesday.

If you would like to volunteer to chaperone, please email Mrs. Genoway - [email protected]

Tigers worked together last year to help save Tillicum. Let's keep working together to make it the best school year! TMS PTA helps fund programs and activities that BSD can't, and with increasing budget cuts from the district, having a PTA respond to any unmet needs is critical! Click here: https://tillicumpta.givebacks.com/store/items/1075945 to help us fund student and family events, school grants, and so much more! This year, we're already starting strong with our PTA-sponsored Ice Cream Social with help from tigers working together and donating!

Last year, in addition to our family events, we also approved some school grants and helped fund these programs:
*Orchestra Retreat
*Afterschool Algebra Club Support
*Microscope Maintenance for the Science Department
*Tiger Store Prizes
*Cascade Program Support
*7th Grade Social Studies Podcast
*Supplies and Food for Culture Chefs Cooking Club
*Support for 6th Grade Camp
*Choir Support
*And more!
Want to double or triple the impact of your donation? Consider donating to our school and letting your employer know that they can match your gift!

Please donate to Tillicum Middle School! Every dollar counts.

With this week being the first week with the Activity Bus running, let's cover After School Activities!

FALL SPORTS WITH JUBILEE

Registration for Fall Sports (Boys Soccer, Girls Basketball, Co-ed Cross Country, and Girls Golf) is happening now and closes soon on September 17th! Students will register directly using a link in the Daily Announcements message sent to their email. You can learn more about Tillicum Athletics (Jubilee Reach) here: https://tillicum.bsd405.org/student-life/athletics-jubilee-reach

Insider tip: You can volunteer to help coach or be an assistant coach with Jubilee Reach! This allows more students to participate when there is a lot of interest for a specific activity but not enough participant slots!

ASB CLUBS & ACTIVITIES

Parents/guardians can start registering their student for select ASB (Associated Student Body)-approved clubs and activities starting now using FinalForms ( https://bellevue-wa.finalforms.com/parents/ ). Students must stay for tutorial (2:35 - 3:05 pm where students can get additional help in classwork with teachers) and obtain a tutorial pass on the day of the activity in order to participate in the activity.

Check out the current list of clubs and activities here: https://tillicum.bsd405.org/student-life/clubs-and-activities

Insider tip: Don't see a club or activity your student is interested in? Check back later in FinalForms as new clubs are formed throughout the year! Or better yet, your student can be part of the process in forming a new club! Have your student look out for information flyers around school, listen to daily announcements, and read the daily announcement emails to find out about new clubs that are forming. Your student can even be the driving force behind a new club! Learn more here: https://tillicum.bsd405.org/student-life/clubs-and-activities

ACTIVITY BUS

Activity Bus starts tomorrow (Mon, Sept 16)! Please note that these buses are different from the regular routes and can be found here: https://bsd405org.finalsite.com/programs-and-services/transportation/bus-routes

Insider tip: Activity bus departs from Tillicum at 4:10 pm, and your student needs to understand the pass system! Students must stay after school for tutorial and get a tutorial pass in order to attend a club or activity. After attending the club or activity, students must get an activity pass which is then shown to the bus driver in order to get on the activity bus. In other words, if your student misses their regular bus, they can't hang out at or around school and assume they can take the activity bus. They must attend tutorial and a club or activity to obtain their activity pass that allows them to get on the activity bus.

Insider tip 2: If your student wants to attend tutorial and doesn't have a club or activity they want to participate in, the library has a Tigers Club (you don't have to register, so don't panic that you don't see it in FinalForms) that provides a safe place for independent study and an activity pass to get them on that activity bus!

Did you know that TMS has a fun Tiger Store for students? They can spend Tiger points, which are earned from staff for following the TMS Way -- Taking Responsibility, Making Good Choices, and Showing Compassion! TMS is currently looking for donations to put into the Tiger Store. Here's a note from our Positive Behavior Coach Joy Haverstick:

"If you have tickets to sports, music, museums, movies, gift cards, art supplies, book sets and more… please think about donating them to our Tiger Store. We will put it as a raffle, so ALL our Tigers have a chance to win. For example, we have been gifted Seahawks Tickets by a staff member for the November 24th game against the Cardinals. Students can buy a raffle ticket for 5 points to get a chance to win this amazing prize of two tickets! Another generous gift by another staff member will be two tickets to the PNW Ballet November show, “All Balanchine,” which runs November 1-10.

Please reach out to Joy Haverstick (Positive Behavior Interventions and Systems Coach) at [email protected] with any questions or donations you have!"
