This week the Harford Leadership Academy delved deep into the heart of healthcare in Harford County! It was a full-day featuring the Harford County Health Department services and Healthy Harford. The focus was on technology, and behavioral health services. They toured the Kaufman Cancer Center and the Bed Tower – a three-story, 75,000-square foot patient facility at UM Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. These facilities are beacons of hope, offering vital support to our community. HLA is committed to continuing to work together in building a healthier, happier Harford County!

Another impactful day with the Harford Leadership Academy! This time they delved into the heart of public safety and emergency services, beginning at the Harford County Detention Center. Special thanks to Warden Daniel Galbraith for his welcome and enlightening tour. Next stop was the Harford County Department of Emergency Services with a welcome from Emergency Manager Rick Ayers. Our attendees jumped into action with "Stop the Bleed" training and explored the adrenaline-pumping 911 Communications Center. Every moment of this full day session was a lesson in preparedness and service. Huge kudos to our HLA members for their enthusiasm and dedication to learning.

The HLA group recently spent the day at the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Southern Precinct, where they were welcomed by Sheriff Gahler and received an inside look at the many divisions that keep our community safe.

Throughout the day, participants rotated through hands-on stations and tours featuring the K-9 Unit, SWAT, Crisis Negotiations, VR Taser training, the Marine Unit, drones, the Traffic/Motorcycle Unit, the Emergency Mobile Command vehicle, and the H.O.P.E. House trailer.

From learning about operations to seeing specialized units in action, the experience offered a deeper appreciation for the dedication and teamwork behind the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

Thank you to the brave men and women who protect and serve our community every day.
