Creativity in Pieces

Sharing my passion for crafting, knitting, jewelry and ornament making, and antique restoration! My name is Kirsten.

Despite the chaos of day-to-day life I find pieces of creative time to keep my craft flame ablaze. The goal of this site is to inspire you to do the same! In just 20 to 30 minutes a day you can make lovely, exquisite and satisfying crafts every few weeks! Handcrafted, heirloom quality items are often expensive. Over the years I found that I could not afford all of the heirloom quality possessions

This Goldwork piece was inspired by Elizabethan embroidery and includes silk threads and needlelace accents. I was particularly pleased by how the silk and metal plate leaf turned out and the Elizabethan braid.

I remember trying needlelace the first time in an Alison Cole kit and thinking, "that doesn't look like the picture". Now, I am long past any frustration I felt initially. I adore the possibilities and variations in mixing the patterns.

I recently ventured into appliqué work. My piece was inspired by a mosaic by Walter Crane.

I used our first snow day to curl up on the couch and finish my Embroidered Scarlet Scarab inspired by the work of Jane Nicholas.
