Enjoying the ease and speed of the lastest 3D printer added to the prototyping lab. If you need anything created, please let me know. I can print carbon reinforced parts, ABS, flexible parts and much much more.

Using a 3D printing pen to reinforce these parts on the inside before the final finishing. Smoothing out the layers will be easy with some wood filler and bondo. But to minimize layer shifting, I added in an additional support to the one that is printing now. This will help stabilize and minimize some of the misalignment as the frame sways slightly towards the top of the print. Of course, this could have been printed as 2 halves, but now I can let it run for 36 hours and don’t have to load a new program or bond them together afterwards.

If any student in Bedford or the surrounding area needs a computer to get online please let me know. I have an extra desktop machine and an extra laptop. Both are several years old but are very capable computers, they just aren’t well equipped for advanced CAD. They can be borrowed over the next few weeks/months or so. Just PM me Peter Boyle

The kids are learning how easy it is to print plastic toys and they also learned about the laptop touchpad and keyboard shortcuts with Minecraft. A fun day of hands on learning at the Lab.
