Ready for a strategy you can try tomorrow (or today)? It's "Wait Time"!
💭 After you ask a question or give a direction, pause for 5-10 seconds before repeating or helping.
This is a simple way to build in a time delay (an evidence-based practice) and reduce over-prompting so learners have the opportunity to process and respond!
✅ Try it during instruction and routines:
• “Line up” ... wait 5-10 seconds
• Point to the visual…wait
• If needed, support with the next level of prompt needed after the pause
