This past Friday, we had the pleasure of hosting our Advisory Council meeting, and it was such a meaningful experience. We enjoyed connecting with professionals from our community and having great conversations about the future of Civil Engineering at Lamar and how we can continue to better prepare our students for life after graduation.
One of the highlights of the day was taking time to celebrate our students. We were proud to honor a few outstanding individuals and recognize their achievements and hard work, it’s always inspiring to see what they’re accomplishing.
A big thank you to our Advisory Council members for their support, insight, and commitment to our students. We truly value these partnerships and are excited about what’s ahead!

We were happy to partner with ExxonMobil Beaumont and Lamar SWE (Society of Women Engineers) for Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day!
The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department was thrilled to be involved by opening our lab space for the event. Exxon engineers led a fun, hands-on slime activity, with the girls actively making the slime themselves while learning about engineering concepts in an engaging way
Thank you to Exxon and SWE for an inspiring day and for helping encourage the next generation of engineers!

Engineering skills? Check. Championship softball skills? Also check. The Civil & Environmental Engineering students competed in the IEEE Softball Tournament this past Saturday and secured the win for the third year in a row.

ENGINEERING WEEK = COMPLETED WITH A BANG!
We wrapped up Engineering Week with the ultimate Block Party, and let me just say… it did NOT disappoint! Between the laughs, the music, the food, and the sunshine, the real star of the show was…
THE. CAR. SMASH.
Nothing says “engineer stress relief” like handing people a sledgehammer and letting them go full Hulk mode.
Huge shoutout to everyone who came out, hyped up the event, and helped us end the week in the most epic way possible. Y’all brought the energy, the vibes, and maybe a little too much enthusiasm with those sledgehammers.

To Launch E-Week, our Chair and Professor Dr. Brake took a couple of pies to the face, proving that leadership sometimes means take one (or two) for the team.
Strong start, great energy and a week of engineering fun officially underway

Some of our talented Civil & Environmental Engineering students had a fantastic opportunity to shine at the Spring 2026 Career Fair this week!
They connected with employers, explored career opportunities, and represented our program with professionalism and enthusiasm. We’re so proud of their dedication and excited to see where their journeys lead next!
👏 Great work, Cardinals!
