New Scholarship Alert

Marshallberg Community Club Scholarship 2026

Eligibility:

East Carteret Graduating Senior who lives in a Down East Community (east of North River bridge) who will be attending college (including community college or some other post secondary education such as fire academy, etc.)

One scholarship for $500.00 Please fill the information below and attach to it an essay explaining how the money will be used, specific financial needs if any, and what your future plans are. Tell what you plan to study in school. Please tell us a little bit about yourself including who you live with, special awards you may have gotten, as well as one thing you like about living in the down east community you live in. Please include any extra curricular things you have been involved in both in school and or the community.

A hard copy of the application is hanging on Mrs. Roberson's door and has been emailed to all seniors!

Deadline to apply is 5/1/26!

Otway Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department
Woody White Scholarship

This scholarship is offered in loving memory of Sherwood "Woody" White, who was a dedicated and beloved member of this department. This is a one-time, $500 scholarship to a high school senior who lives in the community of Otway, Bettie, Smyrna, Williston, Marshallberg, Straits, or Gloucester.

To apply you will need to complete a paper application (Mrs. Roberson has it hanging on her door), one letter of recommendation from an educator that knows you well, a typed statement discussing your goals and you will benefit from continued education and a copy of your transcript! Deadline to apply is Friday May 1, 2026.

Mrs. Roberson has also emailed all seniors this information along with a copy of the application.

New Scholarship Alert:

The Silke Diaz Memorial Scholarship

Here are the requirements:
1. The applicants must have an unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher.
2. They must have participated in the Band all four years in high school and, they must have also participated in Soccer and/or Tennis for at least two seasons.
3. They must also submit a 300-word essay on the importance of sports and Band as extracurricular activities and, if they knew her, a few remarks about Silke. Some seniors may have shared the pit with her in the Musical in the Spring of 2023!

Deadline to apply is Friday May 1st!!!

LeRae Kesel Memorial Scholarship:

LaRae Kesel, a former Carteret Community Theatre (CCT) President, passed away July 1982 at a young age. In her honor, the scholarship fund was established to continue her legacy. She was a dedicated advocate for both community and the Theatre, with a strong passion for projects benefiting children and young people. In order to apply, you must be a graduating student from an accredited high school in Carteret County. You must have a B or higher overall average and must plan to pursue studies in dramatic arts or technical theatre. Mrs. Roberson has the paper application. Deadline to apply is April 15, 2026.
