I believe life is a journey of learning and growing, bettering ourselves each day. I’ve spent most of my adult life seeking knowledge with a goal of improving myself has as a human. Whether it was processing my abandonment issues through hypnotherapy or growing in spirituality through oracle cards, I am in the constant state of knowing better, doing better and being better. And this desire is something I model for my children while I encourage them to be constantly learning, growing, and discovering who they are and want to be.
Before becoming a parent, I was a devoted auntie to my nieces and had lots of babysitting experience under my belt – as a young girl I had only ever wanted to be a mom and have many, many children. I believed that I truly knew the “right” way to raise children (hello super nanny!) but that all flew out the window when I had my own biological children. There was an instinctual desire to parent in a gentler way instead of the default “power-over” dynamic that knew and held onto so tightly (and had used for many years with my stepson). The first step on my information seeking journey was discovering Janet Lansbury and RIE (Resources for Infant Educarers) parenting. I listened to her podcast and read her books, which really resonated but I wanted more. Later, I found the Jai Institute of Parenting, where I could not only learn how to parent in line with my desires but transform myself in the process, which had ripples effects within my family. Now, not only am I able to put into practice what I’ve learned with my own family but as a certified parent coach, I am able to help other families do the same.

A foundational tenant of the work through Harmony at Home – Calm + Connected Parenting is to parent through connection, not coercion, from love instead of fear, creating strong bonds with our children. At the forefront of my coaching sessions is encouraging clients to be intentional about growing and nurturing connection with their children daily to build a strong relationship that brings cooperation, ease and flow. I share tools to nurture these connections as well as provide support when we default to coercion to accomplish tasks. From getting dressed in the morning to getting homework done to getting kids tucked in for bed – our main objective is to have less power struggles and meltdowns along the way (for us and them) and the quality of our connection sets the tone for how easy or difficult this is.

If your automatic response to your child’s challenging behavior is anger or frustration – I invite you to explore what is really happening beneath the surface. How much sleep have you been getting? Are you hydrated, fed, have you moved your body in an intentional way? Are there emotional needs of yours going unmet? It’s very likely you’ll find a laundry list of things going on for you (along with multiple piles of laundry waiting for you). As parents, particularly moms, we sacrifice so much of ourselves for our family, especially our children. And, many of us are guilty 🙋🏼♀️ of letting it get to a point where it causes a huge deficit in our self-care routine leaving us barely surviving most days. Given this, it’s not surprising that our default response to our children can show up as anger and frustration when we just long for ease, peace, and harmony.
On the other side of the “curious not furious” coin - what’s going on for your child? How’d they sleep, are they hungry or thirsty, have they gotten some energy out that day? Are they feeling seen, heard, connected with you? 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝’𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐚 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐞𝐭 – what are they truly needing from you in that moment? When we look at our children through this lens as well as arm ourselves with knowledge about attachment, brain, and nervous system science, we can be purposeful in how we respond to our children, which shifts how our children respond and act.
If you identify and struggle with any of the above, having a coach and game plan that provides tools and one-on-one support is transformational in not only your life, but your family’s lives. I’m here to help!

Active and reflective listening builds connection between you and your child. Try this and let me know how your child responds. Simply showing up and being intentional in being present and truly hearing your child will grow your connection.

We are our child’s first teacher. Our little sponges soak it all in without any filter until age 7! Everything we say, what we do and how we show up in our relationships with others, ourselves as well as our relationship with our children set the stage for how to “be” as a person. Being intentional with how we live paves the way for children to live authentic, emotionally intelligent, kind and loving lives.
Assessing how we show up daily is a key part of my client’s work of being a conscious parent. Setting daily intentions and nightly reflections (if only a few minutes a day!) keeps us accountable so that we are regularly checking in with ourselves and being the parent we want to be, not the parent that shows up by default.

Who’s with me???
If I had a dollar every time I heard grandparents say, “well I/you turned out fine,” I’d be very wealthy! For a lot of my clients and for me, the truth we’ve learned throughout the years is that we are, in fact, not “fine.” I personally have spent much of my adult life unearthing issues and digging deep to become the best version of myself. And, I’m still a work in progress!
Please note, I say all of this without judgment, our parents (and their parents) did the best with what they had and knew, as we do. But I’m here to proclaim that we can do better by educating ourselves in current science-based research and methodologies of raising children that set our kids up to be the best versions of themselves.
Every life challenge I’ve experienced has brought me to where I am now – a parent coach with a passion for helping other parents/caregivers. I stand in gratitude for this awareness and mission.

Take a moment to pause - how do YOU show up for YOUrself in the good and bad times - what does the voice in your head sound like? Is it cheering you on or tearing you down? The tapes that play in our head are unconscious and formed within our mind by age 7! Before that age children live in a "theta" or "hypnotic" state downloading how the world works around them without any filter. How they are spoken to, treated and what parents model becomes the foundation of their own self-talk and their beliefs. What an important job we have as parents (understatement of the year!?!?!)! Fostering our own healthy and positive inner voice requires being intentional especially if you struggle with more negative self talk than positive.
Intentionality is foundational to empowered and conscious parenting. When we are intentional with our words we are able to show up as the parent we want to be instead of resorting to our default ways of parenting.

Reminder - when our children are having emotional outbursts and we as parents/caregivers become triggered, it's important to remember they aren't intentionally trying to upset us. The words they say and their actions aren't personal. When we shift our thinking and get curious about what's happening for them beneath the surface, we can remain calm and hold space for them while they ride the big waves of emotions. It's in these moments where they may be feeling at their worst, that they need us the most.

Now, more than ever our children need us. We live in volatile times, and it only seems to be getting worse. It’s hard to not drown in the despair of what we see unfolding in our schools, our society, in the world at large. It seems there is so much out of our control leaving us living in fear, worry and helplessness and hopelessness. But there is hope and it starts with each one of us. Our role as a parent is the 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 job on this planet and the connection we have and foster with our child(ren) is the most powerful and impactful relationship we can nurture.
How do you feel about your connection with your child(ren)? Does it need support and improvement? Or how can it get even better than it already is?
As a certified conscious Parent Coach, I am here to be of service and support to you and your family – and not just for those that are having challenges but for those wanting to take it to the next level – cultivating more intentionality in how you parent, helping expand your connection, building more trust, strengthening your bond, having more fun and enjoying harmony in your home.
