Our completed ceramic projects! Last term, students were asked to create something inspired by war. Incorporating theme and interpretive art into subject learning engages students to think critically about how history impacts our current culture and society.

Conquering fears on the Big Wheel Seattle! Just over two years ago, these boys would never ride a giant ferris wheel due to debilitating fear of heights. But they have overcome so much and now make the most out of life's adventures. What a view!

Seattle Trip Day 2: We had a fun and busy day exploring Seattle! Some experiences today include the Woodland Park Zoo, a scenic harbor boat tour, the monorail, and the Space Needle!

This year's schoolhouse is 100% solar powered! This gave students a perfect opportunity to dive deeper into their studies on Energy.

The most effective learning is minds-on, hands-on, engaging, relevant, and inspiring. Students gain confidence and important life skills with ownership and pride in their education.

Did you know that air plants absorb nutrients and water from the air? And that they have a natural sunscreen on their leaves called trichomes? And they are epiphytes in their natural habitats, meaning they attach harmlessly to trees in hot, humid environments?

The bowling alley is a stellar place to study physics! Students designed an investigation to answer the question, "How does the mass of a bowling ball affect it's kinetic energy when traveling down the lane?" They measured mass, distance, and time and then calculated velocity and kinetic energy to help answer their question. It's fun, we promise! 😂

Hearing stories from Vietnam War Veterans, Lou and Dennis, gave us a new perspective on war. Students were able to ask questions and gain insight on top secret aviation missions, the draft, and how Vietnamese villagers responded to the soldiers. Dennis mentioned that being "young and dumb" actually saved his life while in combat.
