Did you know that air plants absorb nutrients and water from the air? And that they have a natural sunscreen on their leaves called trichomes? And they are epiphytes in their natural habitats, meaning they attach harmlessly to trees in hot, humid environments?

The bowling alley is a stellar place to study physics! Students designed an investigation to answer the question, "How does the mass of a bowling ball affect it's kinetic energy when traveling down the lane?" They measured mass, distance, and time and then calculated velocity and kinetic energy to help answer their question. It's fun, we promise! đŸ˜‚

Hearing stories from Vietnam War Veterans, Lou and Dennis, gave us a new perspective on war. Students were able to ask questions and gain insight on top secret aviation missions, the draft, and how Vietnamese villagers responded to the soldiers. Dennis mentioned that being "young and dumb" actually saved his life while in combat.
