Battle Creek organizations: I have a serious question for you.
If someone walked through your organization’s doors tomorrow struggling with addiction, mental health, homelessness, domestic violence, trafficking, grief, food insecurity, recovery, or simply trying to figure out where to turn next—would you want them to know you were there?
If the answer is YES, then I’m asking you to show up.
On Saturday, November 14, The Story Tour comes to Northwestern Auditorium in Battle Creek, bringing together people from across our community for a night centered on hope, healing, recovery, faith, testimony, music, and the reminder that a person’s story is not over.
But hope cannot end when the music stops.
Someone sitting in that auditorium may hear a story that finally gives them the courage to ask for help. Someone may decide that night they are ready for recovery. Someone may recognize that what they are experiencing is abuse or exploitation. A parent may realize their child needs support. Someone who has been isolated may simply need to discover that there are people and organizations right here in our community ready to walk beside them.
That is why the resource tables matter.
I am asking our behavioral health agencies, recovery organizations, treatment providers, shelters, schools and colleges, healthcare organizations, victim-service agencies, nonprofits, churches, food and housing resources, veteran organizations, youth programs, peer-support programs, law enforcement/community partners, and every organization serving people in the messy parts of life:
Please advocate inside your organization to have a table at The Story Tour.
Don’t assume someone else will bring the resource you provide. Bring it. Bring your brochures. Bring referral information. Bring recovery resources. Bring crisis information. Bring business cards. Bring information about groups, housing, treatment, counseling, food, employment, transportation, advocacy, and whatever else your organization provides.
Most importantly, bring people who are willing to have conversations.
Battle Creek deserves to see what happens when organizations stop operating as separate islands and show the community what a real network of support looks like.
And this isn’t only about Battle Creek. People will come from surrounding communities, and the resource you put into someone’s hand could travel much farther than Northwestern Auditorium.
So here’s my challenge:

✝️ If you work for an organization, send this post to your leadership and ask, “Can we be there?”
✝️ If you’re a community member, advocate for the organizations you trust to show up.

Because sometimes the difference between “I don’t know where to go” and “I think I can do this” is meeting the right person at exactly the right moment. 💜
