The Louisiana Urban Wildlife Coalition is made up of like-minded individuals, HOAs, organizations, businesses, etc. who see the importance of educating and advocating for the coexistence of humans and urban wildlife in Louisiana. We promote and provide guidance on sustainable + humane ways to reduce conflict with our wild neighbors, and strive to use science-based approaches that provide multi species safety and a healthy environment to thrive. Proven science-based and humane human-wildlife interaction and conflict mitigation strategies can be tailored to the unique characteristics and needs of a particular urban community, taking into account local values, resident demographics, and habitat features.
* Building Community Engagement and Education:
Local initiatives can foster greater community involvement in wildlife conservation and education, empowering residents to become stewards of their local environment and promote coexistence with wildlife.
* Addressing Local Regulations and Planning:
Local and hyper-local governments have the power to create policies, zoning regulations, and planning initiatives (like designing green corridors or enacting leash ordinances) that can significantly impact urban wildlife and human-wildlife interactions.
