LSU Foundation Board of Directors member Roy O. Martin III was awarded an honorary Doctor of Engineering degree last week in recognition of his enduring impact on LSU and the future of engineering in Louisiana.

A two-time LSU alumnus with a degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA, Roy’s leadership and generosity have played pivotal roles in elevating academic excellence and in positioning LSU as a driver of progress for the state and beyond. LSU Honors Roy O. Martin III with Honorary Doctorate for Decades of Leadership, Philanthropy and Service BATON ROUGE, La. — On Saturday evening, LSU recognized alumnus, longtime supporter, and business leader Roy O. Martin III with an honorary doctorate for his decades of transformative leadership, philanthropy, and service to the LSU System and the state of Louisiana.

Class of 2026, you did it! Your hard work, persistence, and accomplishments have led you to this exciting milestone, and we’re eager to see all that you’ll go on to achieve next.

Today, we also celebrate the community of alumni, friends, and family whose generosity helps make the LSU experience possible by opening doors to scholarships, strengthening learning beyond the classroom, and creating opportunities that help every Tiger succeed and grow. Geaux Tigers!

The results are in, and we have a winner! Congratulations to the LSU College of Music & Dramatic Arts for claiming the top spot in the inaugural Lee Michaels Fine Jewelry Crown & Scepter Challenge during LSU Giving Day, with an incredible 130.77% increase in donors over last year!

(Shoutout to the LSU College of Art + Design for a strong second-place finish with an 88.76% increase in donors!)
