This coeducational school exists as an independent system to provide training opportunities for pre- and in-service teachers and to serve as a demonstration and educational research center. Since the school is part of t

he LSU system, students are required to pay tuition. The school is located on the main campus of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, a center for the petrochemical industry and a major deep-water port. Baton Rouge is the capital of Louisiana with a population of over 600,000.

ULS Alumni Spotlight: Dylan Rousselle We are so excited to kick off our very first Alumni Spotlight with an incredible Cub success story of Dylan Rousselle!

Dylan is a U-High graduate and now the Drum Major for the 133rd Edition of the Golden Band from Tigerland! A four-year member of the Drumline, Dylan is also pursuing a degree in Biological Engineering, proving that Cubs can excel both on the field and in the classroom. We asked Dylan what it means to lead Tiger Band as Drum Major, and his answer said it all: "It means the absolute world.

The LSU Tiger Band is one of the most recognizable organizations not only on LSU's campus but in the nation. It is a true honor to be able to hold the title and to have the opportunity to do my best to represent the band and the university.

With all the noise surrounding LSU football this season, it means even more this year to show who we truly are and continue to inspire those that support us."

Dylan also shared how meaningful it was to come back and visit the ULS band department that helped shape his musical journey: "It did feel a little nostalgic. I got to catch up with Mrs. Perry, who taught me recorder before middle school at U-High before she left. That was a cool full circle moment."

And for our current Cubs, Dylan had this advice as a 13-year Cub himself: "You truly never know what opportunities are around the corner. Make the most of your time before you really become on your own in college and life after that.

Additionally, be passionate about what you love. Don't let others steer you away from that — it is what will allow you to open doors you didn't even know were there." Tiger pride runs in the family — and so does Cub pride! Dylan's brother, Dalton Rousselle, is also a ULS alumnus and a fellow member of the Golden Band.

Dalton is a sophomore studying Chemical Engineering and plays tenors on the drumline.

Congratulations, Dylan and Dalton! We are so proud to call you both Cubs! 🐯🎶

Learning beyond the classroom!
ULS student Annie Sullivan recently got a hands-on lesson in wildlife research when she joined her dad, biologist for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, Michael Sullivan, and his team for a waterfowl banding operation at LSU’s Aquaculture Research Station.
Annie helped catch and band migratory waterfowl, including Wood Ducks, while learning how this important research helps inform Louisiana’s waterfowl hunting seasons and regulations. What an incredible opportunity to see science in action! 💛
And, of course, Annie came prepared! ULS uniform underneath Dad’s old, bleach-stained work shirt! 👕🦆
We love seeing our students put their curiosity into action and learn beyond the classroom!

Dear Parents and Families,

First and foremost, thank you so much for your patience, understanding, and continued support as we work through our uniform distribution. We truly appreciate your patience as we work diligently each day to get every order completed and into the hands of our families.

We are happy to share that we have all orders placed through August 7th filled and headed home today so please be on the lookout. Orders are considered complete unless otherwise noted on your packing slip. Because of this, we ask that you please remind your students not to open or go through their uniform orders while at school. Instead, we ask that they bring the order home so that you can review it together.

Orders placed August 8th through August 25th are our next group to be completed. We are hopeful that these orders will be filled by the end of this next week (September 4th). We are still waiting on some inventory but plan to move forward and fulfill as many items as we can, hence you may see “missing” on your packing slip, these items will be fulfilled as soon as we receive them.

Note: See email for additional updates and news!
