Istrouma High cadets visited the Civil War battlefield at Port Hudson, LA, just up the road from the school. They learned about this important battle and learned about how Soldiers lived and fought during that war. The trip ended with a box from Popeye's and some time in the battlefield museum. Ask your cadets what they learned today!

Cadets who had their JROTC classes today enjoyed an alternative physical training: football! One of the lines of the Cadet Creed says, "I will work hard to improve my mind and strengthen my body." That's what cadets do on Fridays at Istrouma.

Yesterday, IMHS cadets participated in the JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl - JLAB. JLAB is a nationwide contest in which cadets compete against other cadets from around the country. Participating cadets took the Level I academic and leadership tests yesterday, both of which allowed teams to work together to determine the correct answers. The academic test was made up of general knowledge questions and the leadership test covered topics the cadets have learned in JROTC classes. The IMHS Academic Bowl Team B scored high enough to advance to Level II of the contest! That team of cadets will participate in JLAB Level II in February.
