The key to emotion regulation is learning to relate to your emotions the same way you would treat a garden of flowers. For example, would it make any sense to control, coerce, manipulate, humiliate, or guilt trip a garden of flowers? How about yell at them? Ignore them? Bury them?? Of course not! Emotions, like flowers, need a different approach.
