Garden update from Marquette!

In only 2 months, our garden has truly come a long way - and we couldn't have done it without our amazing families and community members, Chi'miigwech!

Last week was our first ever harvest from our garden - we harvested sugar snap peas, yum!

Our garden is currently growing cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, calendulas, nasturtiums, summer squash, carnival squash, pie pumpkins, and peas! We also have some kale and spring mix just starting to pop :)

🎉 Week Four of Career Exploration Camp | August 4, 2026 🎉

The Post-Secondary Team would like to express our sincere gratitude to UP Health System - Portage for taking time out of your busy schedules to share your guidance, knowledge, and expertise with our future leaders.

Our students gained valuable insight into a variety of career paths and learned important lessons about professional opportunities available in the health care field within our small rural communities. Your willingness to invest in our youth has made a lasting impact and inspired them to think about their future goals and possibilities.

We would also like to give an extra shout out to the kitchen staff for providing lunch to our kids. Everyone left happy and well fed ☺️

It was another great day for everyone involved, and we are excited to see where our future leader's journeys take them.

Miigwetch to all of the students involved for being on your best behavior, asking great questions, and for doing an outstanding job representing the youth of KBIC. We are proud of each and every one of you! 🤎

Our students gained valuable insight into a variety of career paths and learned more important lessons about professional opportunities available within our small community. Your willingness to invest in our youth has made a lasting impact and helped inspire them to think about their future goals and possibilities

We would like to give a special shout out to the Mikinaak Snack Shack for providing lunch. Our kids were happy and left with full bellies ☺️
