On the last day of school students and staff at GLW Elementary School enjoyed our annual GLW Talent Show. Throughout the months of April and May students interested in performing at the Talent Show practiced and prepared their act at home and during some recesses to be prepared for the end of year show. There were a wide range of talents showcased, such as playing the piano and ukulele, singing, dancing, hockey, tennis, soccer, wrestling moves, gymnastics, and jokes. Members of our Student Council were the announcers during the show. Some staff members also participated in the show and showed off their amazing talents as well! Mrs. Huber and Mrs. Allaby look forward to having our GLW's Got Talent Show next year!

On Friday, June 5th, Discovering Social Studies Students in Ms. Veronica Lohrei’s and Mr. Dalton Casey’s presented their Community Issues presentation in the Baraboo High School Commons.

These students have been working diligently to analyze data from the Baraboo 2024 Comprehensive Plan, the SSM Health Data Report, and other credible sources to identify potential issues in the Baraboo Community. After collecting information, students selected the topic they found most challenging in Baraboo. From there, students created survey questions to gather public opinion on the selected challenge.

By using data gathered from the surveys, students created a solution to address the challenge their group identified within the community. After creating a solution, students made a presentation outlining the history of the issue, the solution, and how it connects to economics, government, geography, and other Social Studies topics. The purpose of this assignment was for high school students to learn about their community, the supports already provided, and how they can better support it, while gaining skills in data analysis, questioning, writing, and creating solution-based action plans.

The students in Ms. Wixom's and Mrs. Laux's first-grade classes at Gordon L. Willson Elementary arrived ready for a Grand Ball fit for royalty. Each student received a royal name and crown and came dressed in their fantastically fancy attire.

Upon entering the ballroom, they were greeted by our classroom goose, King Bob III, along with the other beloved classroom geese of GLW. The festivities included a fancy feast, creating personalized tea blends, and dancing with the real Cinderella from the high school musical production.

The celebration was topped off with a special photo opportunity overlooking the palace, creating memories our young princes and princesses will cherish for years to come.

With the school year coming to an end, we took some time to look back on an incredible year. This video features more than 1,500 photos captured throughout the 2025-26 school year, and the year seemed to fly by almost as fast as the images on the screen.

Thank you to our students, staff, families, and community for making this such a memorable year. We are proud of all that was accomplished and grateful for the support that makes it possible.

While we're celebrating the end of one great year, we're already looking ahead to the next. The countdown has already begun, with just 81 days until the first day of school.

GLW 4th graders had a surprise visit during Art class because 3 students from BHS were out on a special volunteering opportunity. Brandon, Shayden, and Jakob from Ms. Whitehurst's AVID class are looking to fight food insecurity and start a conversation about the topic. They brought cookies to Mrs. Spicer's Art class and let the students decorate cookies; one for themselves and one to give away to someone else! What a sweet treat!

GLW's 5th graders had the amazing experience of exploring Dr. Evermore's Sculpture Park on their Art Field Trip with Mrs. Spicer! They were able to meet and talk to the artist's family, explore the artwork, and take time to create observational drawings! Some of the artwork was interactive and they were able to make music on the metal dragons using a variety of mallet-tools! Overall, the sculpture park was an invaluable lesson on the power of art and our ability to turn scraps into something beautiful!
