Exec Board spotlight: Kevin is the Treasurer of our BRASA JHU chapter. His family is from Paraná, Brazil, and is a junior majoring in Computer Science. He joined BRASA because he wanted to get to know other Brazilians at Hopkins and stay in touch with his roots. Some interesting facts about Kevin are: he is a big skateboarder, he has never actually been to Brazil, and he loves sertanejo. Stay tuned for more Exec Board spotlights.

Exec Board spotlight: Thifany is our Social Media Director at the BRASA JHU chapter. She is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and is a junior majoring in International Studies, Political Science, and Spanish. She joined BRASA because she missed home and wanted to make friends who spoke her native language and shared her traditions and culture. She was looking for a sense of community, which a lot of people struggle finding as new students in college. Being able to attend BRASA hangouts with Brazilian food like churrasco was a plus. In addition to being involved with our club, she is a member of HopMUN (Hopkins’ traveling Model United Nations team) and a member of the International Studies Leadership Committee’s Speakers Committee. Some interesting facts about her are: one of her life goals is to be a polyglot (somebody who speaks 4+ languages), she is a transfer student, she spends way too much time watching romantic comedies on Netflix, and she is writing this post talking about herself in the third person. Exec Board spotlight: Itic is our Vice President and External Events Coordinator at our BRASA JHU chapter. He is from São Paulo, Brazil, and a senior majoring in mechanical engineering. He joined BRASA because he wanted to help expand the Brazilian culture on campus and meet interesting people. Speaking Portuguese and hanging out with other Brazilians make him feel closer to home. At Hopkins, in addition to being involved with our club, Itic is a part of the MechE Senior Design team, working alongside other students to design a device that assists blind people to do housework. Some interesting facts about him are: he is a transfer student, he is currently working at Hyperloop Transportation Technologies designing a new type of transportation, and he loves Peaky Blinders and Rick and Morty. Exec Board spotlight: Victor is our Director of Pre-University Resources at the JHU chapter. He is a freshman from Bahia, Brazil, majoring in International Studies and Sociology and minoring in Africana Studies. He joined BRASA because he started a Brazilian culture club in high school and wanted to continue taking part on a similar activity in college. He also wanted to meet more Brazilian students at Hopkins and interact with them during the social events our chapter hosts. He was also hoping to expand his network to include many people involved with BRASA in other parts of the world, taking advantages of the many resources that BRASA Global has to offer. In addition to being involved with our organization, Victor is a host for the Smooth Hi-Hats & Chats radio show on WJHU, the director of finance of the Discourse Club, and a member of the International Studies Leadership Committee’s Social Subcommittee. Some fun facts about him are: his favorite food is moqueca and his favorite soccer team is Vitória. Stay tuned for more exec spotlights. 🇧🇷

Exec Board spotlight: Vinicius is our beloved president of the JHU chapter. He is from Paraná, Brazil, and is a senior majoring in computer science. He joined BRASA because he wanted to help rebuild the organization so that Brazilians at Hopkins would have a community on campus. Being an international student, having friends that shared his culture means a lot to him. In addition to being involved with BRASA, Vini is the president of TCO Labs and a member of Alpha Kappa Psi. Some interesting facts about him are: he is currently working on a startup idea with some friends and he is an Apple fanboy who spends way too much time on Youtube watching videos about Apple news, rumors, and leaks.
