Exec Board spotlight: Thifany is our Social Media Director at the BRASA JHU chapter. She is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and is a junior majoring in International Studies, Political Science, and Spanish. She joined BRASA because she missed home and wanted to make friends who spoke her native language and shared her traditions and culture. She was looking for a sense of community, which a lot of people struggle finding as new students in college. Being able to attend BRASA hangouts with Brazilian food like churrasco was a plus. In addition to being involved with our club, she is a member of HopMUN (Hopkins’ traveling Model United Nations team) and a member of the International Studies Leadership Committee’s Speakers Committee. Some interesting facts about her are: one of her life goals is to be a polyglot (somebody who speaks 4+ languages), she is a transfer student, she spends way too much time watching romantic comedies on Netflix, and she is writing this post talking about herself in the third person.
