We're excited to announce that our Alternative Spring Break site for this year will be Washington, DC.

What is Alternative Spring Break?
Alternative Spring Break (ASB) is a highly immersive week of service projects, leadership-building and relationship-building. It gives college students the chance to make an impact on communities around the U.S. and learn more about the challenges and opportunities facing the country.

LOCATION: WASHINGTON, DC
Break’rs will take programming to the next level for youth in many ways, including homework help, arts & crafts, and athletic activities.

Nearly 650,000 people live in Washington DC. More than 1 in 4 children in the District live in poverty, this comes out to about 28%. While DC spends more than any state in the country for education, at $20,530/student, it has the second to worst public school system in the country.

I hope you all are having a great start to this semester. Thank you all for your interest in Student United Way.Our first meeting will be held this Wednesday , in the Second Floor Lounge, Meletia Hall at 3:30pm.We will also be announcing the Lucky Raffle Winner at the meeting ;keep in mind that attending the meeting is mandatory to receive your prize.

Thanks to all the participants who joined our Pb and J challenge and congratulation to all the winners.The event was a success! We made 330 sandwiches and donated it to the Weinberg Shelter a low barrier shelter that provides homeless services in the Baltimore City.

Hello everyone,

Student United Way is very excited to announce that we will be doing the PB&J Challenge again! Our goal is to make about 300 sandwiches to donate to the Weinberg Housing and Resource Center. Weinberg Shelter is a low barrier emergency shelter that provides homeless services to over 275 adult men and women each night in Baltimore City.
We are taking up to 15 volunteers.You can choose to either compete or help us out during the event. You do not have to be a member to participate, so you're more than welcome to invite your friends.

Rules will be explained at the event and prizes will be awarded!!

Here's the sign up form. It's set to stop accepting responses after 15 people have signed up.
You can either signup with a partner or individually ( participants who sign up individually will be paired up at the event)

We made 315 sandwiches today to donate to the Weinberg Shelter.

Catholic Charities shares Baltimore City's vision of making homelessness in Baltimore rare and brief through the Weinberg Housing and Resource Center .
This low-barrier shelter houses 275 residents, providing each resident with case management, workshops and resource referrals, breakfast and dinner and a caring staff committed to the Catholic Charities mission of "Love in Action."
