SASH is Johns Hopkins' association for South Asian students.

SASH is a community-- it's a way to get in touch with your South Asian side whether you're South Asian or not. Whoever you are, wherever you're from, and whatever your experience with brown culture, SASH is a way for you to explore-- from music to food to dance to people.

Official Statement of Solidarity from JHU APIDA Student Organizations 06/01/2020

South Asian Students @ Hopkins is deeply saddened by the loss of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and the countless, innocent others who have lost their lives from the institutionalized racism in the United States and around the world. Our organization stands in solidarity with the Black community against the systemic oppression in our country.

We urge our community to take action. Donate. Sign petitions. Raise awareness. Most importantly, educate. As members of the South Asian diaspora in the United States, we must educate ourselves on the benefits our community has reaped from the powerful work done by Black communities, the "model minority" myth, and the normalization of anti-blackness within the Desi community.

SASH CAB/NRC Statement 2.0 03/03/2020

ANNOUNCEMENT

South Asian Students at Hopkins (SASH) became aware in December of the Citizenship Amendment Bill and National Registry of Citizens that were en route to implementation in India. We are disappointed by the actions of the Indian government surrounding this issue, and the Islamophobic and Hindu Nationalist beliefs the government continues to uphold, which we believe are directly in conflict with the secularist principles upon which India was founded. Our mission is to represent all South Asians at Hopkins, regardless of religion or background identity, and we believe it is the responsibility of political and international actors to denounce this legislation, as well as Hopkins' responsibility to denounce these actions and their harms to many of our students and many around the world.

We penned this open letter expressing our concern surrounding the legislation, and invite members of the community, both students and faculty, as well as other Student Organizations, to sign on. If interested, please feel free to message us on FB/Insta, or email us. Additionally, if you're interested in learning more or discussing this issue, please come to Chai Chats: CAB/NRC & Islamophobia in India on Thursday, March 5, at 6:30 pm.

SASH CAB/NRC Statement 2.0 Dear all, We, the board of the South Asian Students at Hopkins (SASH) write this letter to fellow students, family members, South Asians, and Americans alike, to call attention to the recent actions of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Citizenship Amendment B...
