Crossing the finish line in style! 🚗🏁

Last week, our kindergartners took part in the beloved Kindergarten Crossing the Finish Line tradition (formerly known as the Kindy 500). After transforming cardboard boxes into creative cars, they took celebratory laps around the Lower School to mark the end of an incredible year, while families, teachers, and classmates lined the halls to cheer them on. 🏎️🎉

At last week’s Tie Ceremony, our eighth graders received their Gilman ties, marking an exciting milestone as they prepare to begin their Upper School journey this fall.

Students also heard words of advice and encouragement from Upper School peers, who reflected on their own experiences and shared insights on making the most of their years ahead at Gilman. The student speakers then helped present ties to members of the and their families.

“It’s a time to value life and honor service.”

On a warm spring morning at Sotir Stadium, the Gilman community gathered for our annual Memorial Day Convocation to honor and remember those who gave their lives in service to our country. Through music, reflection, and remembrance, students, faculty, and staff came together to recognize the sacrifices of fallen heroes and members of the Gilman community we lost this year. 🇺🇸

We loved welcoming moms and special guests of the to campus this week for one of our favorite traditions, the Mother-Son Luncheon! It was a special afternoon honoring and celebrating our soon-to-be graduates. 🎓

During this week’s Upper School Awards Day Ceremony, nearly 100 students were honored for their outstanding achievements in academics, athletics, the arts, leadership, and service.

The Middle School brought the energy to this year's Super Gras! 🏆💥

Starting with the iconic chariot race, our Greyhounds spent the day competing in activities like tug-of-war, pool noodle jousting, egg toss, dodgeball, and so much more. Filled with fun, teamwork, and friendly competition, students had the chance to cheer each other on while making lasting memories along the way. 🎉

Congratulations to faculty members Raymond Diaz-Mena and Amiri Rivers-David as they complete their Penn Fellows Independent School Teaching Residency this semester and prepare to earn their master's from the University of Pennsylvania! 🎓👏

We celebrated their accomplishments with a reception and presentations of their inquiry projects, highlighting the impact they’ve made during their two years at Gilman. We are grateful for all they have contributed to our community and can’t wait to see what’s next for them!

From waddles to wise lessons, our Kindergarten students stole the show during this year's Penguin Tales & Thinking Trails performance! 🐧

Through creative short plays, our young Greyhounds explored the lives of penguins while sharing a powerful message about how pollution and littering can impact their habitats.
