The International Essay Writing Competition 2025 offers students a wonderful chance to showcase their writing talents on a global stage.

Competition Details:

Categories:
Sub-junior (Grades 3-5): Write at least 300 words on "The Most Important Lesson I’ve Learned."
Junior (Grades 6-8): Write at least 500 words on "How I Would Solve a Global Problem"
Senior (Grades 9-12): Write at least 700 words on "What It Means to Be a Global Citizen."
Maximum word count for all categories: 1500 words.

Prizes:
1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each category will receive Gold, Silver, and Bronze Trophies, along with Certificates.
5 Consolation Prizes (Medals and Certificates) in each category.
School-Level Medals for each category if there are bulk registrations of 50 or more students.

Registration Fee:
* US$10 per student for International Schools. For schools registering more than 50 students, the fee is US$8 per student..

Key Dates:

Congressman Johnny Olszewski is excited to announce internship opportunities for high school students in Maryland's Second Congressional District. The District Office is offering this program to give exceptional high school students a hands-on experience in public service and the legislative process.
The office seeks motivated, organized, and reliable students with strong communication skills and an interest in public service and policy-making. High school seniors participating in a school-sponsored work/study program, credited course, or senior work project are eligible. Sharing this opportunity with students, especially those with strong academic performance and a desire to learn about government and public service, is appreciated.
We are currently accepting internship applications for the Fall 2025/2026 term. The deadline to apply is August 11th 2025.

2025 Geospatial Technology Summer Camp (Registration now open!) – MarylandView 05/09/2025

I am excited to announce that the Department of Geography & Environmental Planning at Towson University, in collaboration with Maryland View, will host the 2025 Geospatial Technology Summer Camp from July 8 to 11 on the Towson University campus in Towson, MD. This 4-day, 3-night, all-inclusive overnight camp is designed for Maryland high school students aged 15 and older who are interested in exploring geospatial technologies. Participants will stay in double-occupancy rooms in a university residence hall. Meals, lodging, and transportation are all covered.

In this summer camp, students will gain hands-on experience with emerging geospatial technologies (e.g., digital cartography, GPS, satellite remote sensing, aerial photography, etc.) and experience exciting college life at Towson University. Key activities include:

satellite imagery collection and analysis
GPS data collection
digital mapping
field data collection
NASA field trip

This summer, the Communication Studies Department and Public Communication Center at Towson University are hosting a summer camp for rising fifth and sixth grade-identifying girls called Speak Up, Speak Out (SUSO). SUSO, which will run from July 7th through July 11th will emphasize the power of communication and advocacy during a time where children in this age range are navigating their sense of place, friends, bullying, and so much more. Lunch and snacks will be provided.

Johns Hopkins University is hosting its annual Physics Fair on Saturday, April 26th. The Fair is only a couple of weeks away! Please help us spread the word to your students and others who might be interested in attending.

What’s new?

T-Shirts: The logo for the fair has been finalized! The logo was designed by Ruoxi Wang, a graduate student at JHU, and represents the International Year of Quantum and the major areas of research that we do at JHU. See the logo on our website. Logo t-shirts are in production and will be available for purchase at the fair for about $12.

Demo Shows: The theme for our two demonstration shows is “The Wavey-ness of Things”. Professor Ibrahima Bah will take us on a journey that explores waves, resonance, interference, and the mind-bending wave-particle duality manifest in quantum physics.
Prizes: Gift card prizes will be awarded to the winners of our individual Challenge and team Bowl competitions. Register your team for the team Bowl competitions here.

Ice Cream: The liquid nitrogen – for making ice cream with at minus 321 degrees F – has been ordered! It is definitely one of the *coolest* demos we do! We can’t wait to share a cup of this nerdy dessert with you!

MARYLAND STUDENTS!

Representative Johnny Olszewski invites all high school students in Maryland’s Second Congressional District to participate in the 2025 Congressional Art Competition. This year’s theme is "Maryland Strong.”

The Congressional Art Competition is an annual, nationwide event sponsored by the members of the U.S. House of Representatives to recognize and encourage the developing artistic talent in the nation, as well as in our Congressional District. This contest is
open to high school students (grades 9-12). The over-all winner of our district's competition will be displayed in the Cannon House Office Building tunnel at the U.S. Capitol for one year, along with the winners from around the country. Artwork entered in
the contest may be up to 26” x 26” x 4”, including the frame, and must not weigh more than 15 pounds.

Artwork art forms may include:

Paintings - including oil, acrylics, and watercolor

Drawings - including pastels, colored pencil, pencil, charcoal, ink, and markers

Collage

Prints - including lithographs, silkscreen, and block prints

Mixed Media

Computer Generated Art

Photography

Submissions must be delivered to Representative Olszewski's District Office (110 West Road, Towson, MD, 21204, Building B, Suite 420) no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. For full competition guidelines

Montgomery County NACAC College Fair is taking place at the Maryland SoccerPlex Adventist Fieldhouse (18031 Central Park Circle, Boyds, MD 20841) on:

Monday, April 8th, from 9:45 AM to 1:00 PM and 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM

Tuesday, April 9th, from 9:45 AM to 1:00 PM

As the largest college fair on the East Coast and right in your backyard, this event is an exceptional opportunity for 11th-grade students to explore their futures. providing them a chance to connect with college representatives from approximately 300 institutions across 40 states and several foreign countries.

At the fair, students and parents can:
