Third- and fifth-grade siblings Bryce and Olivia are taking school with them, learning wherever life takes them, and choosing to give back!

After seeing conditions at UFCTB in Terra Boa, Cabo Verde, they launched the “Powering the Future of Terra Boa” campaign to bring electricity and basic facilities to 83 students.

We're so proud of these two, and to call them Pearson Online Academy students!

Eighth-grader Sophia P. traveled to Louisville, Kentucky, in March to compete in the American Kennel Club National Schipperke Specialty. 🐕🦴

Facing incredible competition, she won the title of the 2026 National Best Junior handler. 🏆

This was a result of an incredible amount of hard work and dedication to the sport. Now, she is only 3 wins away from qualifying for the Westminster Dog Show...fingers crossed! 🤞

Skylar, a Pearson Online Academy student from Alabama, is an accomplished photographer who recently won the Congressional Art Competition with one of her submissions. She will be traveling to Washington, DC this June to be formally recognized by the Congressional Institute for her achievement.

From a young age, Skylar says she always had a passion for storytelling and a love for anything involving wildlife. When she picked up a camera for the first time 4 years ago, she knew she had finally found her calling. Over the past few years, she has continued to improve her camera skills through countless hours of practice. "There are so many people who don’t have the ability or resources to see the beauty of the natural world," she says. "Photography allows me to share the beauty of our planet with those who cannot see it firsthand."

The Congressional Art Competition is an annual event that showcases select high school artists’ work. Skylar's photograph, titled Reflection, won Best In Show for the 5th Congressional District of Alabama. This piece will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol in Washington DC for a year starting June 2026.

Reflection was taken off the coast of Afognak Island in Alaska. It shows a Sea Otter, scientifically known as Enhydra lutris, floating in a bed of kelp. "To me, this photograph symbolizes reflecting on oneself, similar to looking into a mirror. Every single person who views this piece has their own interpretation of the image, its title, and most importantly, its story."

✨ Student Spotlight: Shrijhan ✨

At Pearson Online Academy, we love celebrating students for their passions, creativity, and dedication—and Shrijhan is a wonderful example of that spirit.

Shrijhan has a natural love for creative, skill‑based pursuits. One of his biggest passions is realistic pencil drawing, where he spends hours patiently perfecting fine details and shading. Watching his sketches come to life is truly inspiring.

Beyond art, Shrijhan also has a deep connection to music. He plays the piano and often challenges himself by performing blindfolded, relying purely on memory and his ear for each note.

He’s also deeply committed to chess, where he is actively training to sharpen his thinking skills and grow as a player. And on top of it all, Shrijhan is learning the mridangam, a traditional Indian percussion instrument that requires discipline, rhythm, and consistent practice.

What makes Shrijhan especially special isn’t just his talent—it’s the focus, patience, and quiet determination he brings to everything he loves.

Thank you to Shrijhan’s family for sharing his story with us. We’re proud to celebrate students like Shrijhan, whose passions make our community so vibrant. 💙
