The Maryland State Board of Education is holding a meeting on Tuesday, June 23. The State Board will review and discuss literacy and math policies, receive updates on the new accountability system and the COMPASS Act, hear from a panel of child care providers, and more!

☀️ School's out, but healthy meals are still in! 🍎📚

Did you know that many Maryland libraries are serving as locations for free summer meals? Through the Maryland State Department of Education Summer Nutrition Program for Kids, children and teens 18 and under can access nutritious meals all summer long while visiting their local library and participating in summer activities. The program helps ensure kids continue to receive nutritious meals when school is out.

Nearly 100 special education leaders and educators participated in the Local Special Education Directors’ Meeting hosted by Wicomico County Public Schools and Worcester County Public Schools MD.

The meeting provided updates on division work, Blueprint Special Education initiatives, legislative developments, and guidance on Narrowing the Gap, with breakout sessions on literacy, IEP services, preschool models, and evidence-based practices.
