Boys should know how to treat people with disabilities. Most people don’t know what to say… so they stare, avoid, or say the wrong thing. Today we taught the boys something simple: speak to them, not around them. Don’t stare. Don’t assume. Just be respectful. Also, lend a helping hand. Before we started, they all knew we were trying to teach so they didn’t think I was really being mean. At the end of the day, they’re people first.

We are honored to welcome Mrs. Lisa Weddington as our Educational Guide and primary speaker. Mrs. Lisa brings years of experience supporting homeschooling families and helping parents navigate education with wisdom, care, and practical insight.

The session will be facilitated by Mama Nakia Porter, Founder and Executive Director of Melanin Day School Academy.

Whether you are homeschooling, considering new educational options, supporting a child in public/private school, or simply looking for encouragement and resources, this space is for you.
