Pretend you’re blowing up a balloon. Take a deep breath in through your nose, then slowly blow out through your mouth like you’re filling a big balloon. Repeat 3–5 times.

Why it helps: Calms the body and slows racing thoughts.

Try it before homework or bedtime.

Practicing “pause strategies” to use when feel overwhelmed:

Take 5 deep breaths
Squeeze a stress ball or fidget
Count slowly to 10
Draw or write about their feelings

These little steps add up! With practice, students learn how to pause, calm down, and respond instead of react.

Try introducing one new strategy at a time and practice it daily—before stress shows up.

Last week we showed up to celebrate one of our middle school students who lives for Bobby Brown classics! From rocking overalls to rocking the vibe, it was “Every Little Step” of fun. We had to remind him, “Don’t Be Cruel,” but when it’s your birthday—“My Prerogative” is to party!

Big smiles, good music, and memories that’ll last a lifetime. 💙

Happy Birthday Chris!
