Yesterday,, our brand new Brookside Mock Trial Club stepped into the courtroom for their very first case experience at the and they showed up with confidence, teamwork, and determination! 👏🏽

From opening statements to courtroom etiquette, our students had the incredible opportunity to experience the justice system firsthand while building skills in public speaking, critical thinking, leadership, and collaboration. 🎤📚⚖️

We are so proud of these future attorneys, judges, advocates, and leaders for representing Brookside with professionalism and courage on such a big stage. 💙💛

A special thank you to everyone who helped make this experience possible for our students!

🤫✨ Okay Brookside families… we’ve been keeping a little secret…

Every Thursday after school, our students have been learning the art of cartooning, comic storytelling, and illustration through our AMAZING Cartooning Club… and BAM 💥

We’ve got Shauna J. Grant leading the fun! 🎨✏️📚

Many of our students already know and love her work from favorites like the Baby-Sitters Little Sister graphic novels, the Mimi series, and even History Comics: Rosa Parks & Claudette Colvin! 📖✨

What makes this even more special is how it all started…

Back during PARP Week, Shauna joined Brookside students virtually to talk about becoming an illustrator and storyteller. The students were so inspired that the Brookside School PTA worked to turn that experience into a real afterschool opportunity for our students!

Now every week our young cartoonists are:
🖍️ Designing characters
📚 Creating story ideas
😄 Practicing expressions & emotions
💭 Learning comic planning & thumbnailing
✂️ Creating their own mini comic books & zines

Today marked Week 4, the halfway point of this incredible experience, and the creativity coming out of this club has been AMAZING to watch! 🚀💙💛
