AMERICAN PACHUCO: THE LEGEND OF LUIS VALDEZ opens right here in Bakersfield at Maya Cinemas Bakersfield 16, starting August 7, with a live Q&A opening night with Dolores Huerta, David Alvarado, and Everett Katigbak. The Sundance audience favorite film is about Luis Valdez, the man who built El Teatro Campesino out of California's fields and put the pachuco on the American stage. Narrated by Edward James Olmos in character as El Pachuco. This story starts right down the road, on the Delano picket lines that gave rise to El Teatro Campesino and a movement that changed American culture, so there's no better place to see it. Stay after the screening for a live Q&A with the filmmaker. 🎟 Maya Cinema Bakersfield [mayacinemas.com]
