Hear from Joe Nahama @driller.bhs.ptso President on the history of The BHS Water Tower in the Alumni Plaza at the @kerncountymuseum. The water tower was originally built in 1913 and was located at Bakersfield High School on the corner of 14th and C Streets. The tower was built to provide water to the campus independent of the city water supply and had access to four wells, each providing 450 gallons of water per minute, towering at 60 feet high. The water tower quickly became a source of pride for BHS drillers. Its signature driller pride murals can be seen hovering over the high school above the surrounding campus and community long after the school and it is used to the water source. Experience it anytime at the Kern County Museum and this Friday you get tickets to The Howdy Hop which is a fundraiser for BHS.
