Work-Based Learning applications will be available for Fall 2024 beginning Monday, March 25. Priority will be given to applications received by April 26. Applicants must be an upcoming junior or senior, maintain good grades, good behavior, and good attendance. Reliable transportation is required. Application packets may be picked up after 2nd Block in Ms. Palmer's classroom (room 1220).

Today we want to highlight Paris Birdsong, a senior at BHS, who is participating in our hospital apprenticeship program!

1. What have you enjoyed about the hospital apprenticeship program? I have really enjoyed getting to experience being in every different departments during the apprenticeship program. I learned so much about what each department entails. I thought I knew what department I would like best, but I discovered that I actually have 3 or 4 favorites!

2. What was your favorite department? Why and what did you learn? My favorite department is the ER because you always get to see new things, each day is different and unpredictable and it stays active. One thing I learned from being in the ER would be that some days will be hard and crazy busy, but you can’t let that stop you from what you love doing, which is helping people in need!

3. What are your plans after high school graduation? After graduation I will continue my college studies to get my RN, after that I then plan to pursue my PA. My plan is to come back to Bainbridge Memorial Hospital to work after graduating from college.

Paris, we are very happy you have enjoyed your time here at MHM and have learned and experienced so much. Good luck with college! We are glad you plan to return home and work with us in the future!!

We want to highlight our High School apprenticeship students this year. Today we have Brock Williams, a high school senior at BHS . We asked Brock what he enjoyed about the program, what he learned, and what his plans are after graduation. Brock said that he loves the fact that the apprentices are allowed to be involved in so many areas of the hospital to see the care of the patients. His favorite area is outpatient physical therapy because of the atmosphere and care provided, and inpatient physical therapy is a close second. He stated that both locations taught him a lot about therapy and life in general. After high school Brock plans on getting his bachelors in Kinesiology and then continuing on to either PTA or PT school.

Brock, we have loved having you here this year and glad you have been able to gain insight about your future career of choice! Good luck with everything and please keep us in mind when considering where to return after college!

BHS Work-Based Learning teacher, Ms. Palmer, has spent the past 3 days with the best WBL Coordinators in the state sharing ideas and staying on top of all the latest state guidelines. Can’t wait to bring back some of what I’ve learned to the students and employers this next school year!
