The Lake Travis school board proudly recognized the Lake Travis High School Wind Ensemble who has been selected to perform and represent LTISD at the 78th Annual Midwest Clinic in December.
The Midwest Clinic is an international band, orchestra, and music conference held in Chicago that offers attendees an array of clinics and exhibits, as well as access to music and teaching icons. With more than 18,000 attendees from all 50 states and more than 40 countries, ensembles from across the world apply in hopes of receiving a rare invitation to this prestigious event.
Richard Hicks is the director and conductor of the Lake Travis High School Wind Ensemble. During the recognition, Mr. Hicks indicated that the students in this year’s ensemble who are currently seniors will not be performing at the clinic in December. Additionally, after many hours of tedious practice, the group submitted two prior recordings for an esteemed panel of the most highly-qualified judges in the country. However, each submission was rejected. In a third attempt from the same group of student-musicians, Lake Travis was selected as one of only six high school bands in the entire country invited to perform at this year's clinic.
