The 2022 Austin Marathon may be over, but we are still on the last leg of our own race! Team APIE will be accepting donations through Sunday, March 6. All money raised supports our programs with Austin ISD students. Education is a marathon, not a sprint, so every dollar counts!

Thank you to Snooze, an A.M. Eatery and Trader Joe’s for providing coffee, breakfast, and snacks for our Austin Marathon aid station volunteers! On an early, chilly morning, it was awesome to have fuel for supporting and cheering on the runners.

We asked students in the P-TECH real estate program to share their experiences working with APIE's College Readiness Advocate, and these were some of their responses! Funded in part by the Greater Texas Foundation, this program helps prepare students for real estate careers after high school graduation. We’re proud to work with this bright group of students at Akins Early College High School!

DID YOU KNOW? APIE mentors range in age from 19 to 83! Just goes to show you can make a difference at any age. As we close out National Mentoring Month, we want to thank all of our mentors who strengthen our community by taking the time to connect with students each week.

Today is Thank Your Mentor Day, and we joined Communities In Schools of Central Texas and Seedling to celebrate Austin-area mentors at City Hall! The City of Austin Governmentissued a proclamation recognizing January as National Mentoring Month, presented by Mayor Pro Tem Alison Alter.

Dr. Alter said that making a difference in students lives’ requires “meaningful, individual connections and people willing to show up week after week to build those relationships.” We’re proud to have such a great group of mentors in our community who are champions for local students!

Mentoring amplifies meaningful connections that can stand the test of time! APIE mentor Sydney Benter says that her weekly lunch meetings with her mentee "survived middle school, a pandemic, wait-listed high school enrollment for her and a season of professional uncertainty for me. My mentee is dynamic, quick-witted and emotionally intelligent. We have great conversation and always pick right up where we left off!"

Our Math Classroom Coaching volunteers help increase students' self-confidence in their math skills!
