We are excited that our fellow APIE mentor, Frankie Mendoza, will be leading discussions with APIE’s mentor community next week. Frankie has experience facilitating circles from his work as a Restorative Practices Coordinator with AISD.

Circles are one of the oldest forms of community conversation. Indigenous peoples’ from around the world have used this type of group processing to strengthen relationships, create a sense of belonging, and move community forward in social change work.

Today and every day, we are grateful to our nation's Veterans for their service and sacrifice.

As partners in education, we wanted to take a moment to highlight the education and career benefits available to the families of veterans through the VA, including scholarships and educational & career counseling.

Attention APIE fans, friends, and amazing people we've yet to meet:

APIE IS SEEKING MENTORS!

We welcome everyone with the heart and time to mentor an Austin ISD middle or high school student. Mentoring has been proven to make a significant difference in students' lives, including contributing to increased graduation rates, higher rates of students going on to post-secondary education (college or other), and improved self-confidence.

Spanish-speaking and multi-lingual mentors, BIPOC mentors, and mentors with experience supporting neurodiverse learners, including students with autism, are in high demand across all campuses listed below.

Students are waiting for mentors at the following schools:

Middle Schools: Dobie, Lamar, Marshall, Murchison, and Small

High Schools: Austin, Crockett, Eastside, International, and Navarro

Join us to make a difference in a young person’s life. Sign up today!

Our Story

APIE was originally created in 1983 as Adopt-A-School by the Austin Independent School District and the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce before becoming Austin Partners in Education, an independent 501(c)(3) in 2004. We work in partnership with Austin ISD to reinvent the urban-school experience and build a talent pipeline of local students to grow the regional economy. Since our founding, we have trained and placed more than 16,000 tutors and mentors, who have supported over 35,000 Austin ISD students.

Our academic support and mentoring programs increase access to higher education. We utilize best practice learning models with proven results that have received recognition from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and have been cited as an example of Better Use of Community Resources by the U.S. Department of Education. We were also honored by the White House Initiative in Educational Excellence for Hispanics.
