Robots 🤖
New tech 💡
Kids building 🚀
And one VERY curious rhino 🦏
We loved hosting Karen Bebelaar and Jonas Zagatta of World Robot Olympiad and the incredible team from Stem Impact Center Kenya in Nanyuki for a hands-on robotics workshop with our students and teachers 💛
It was the students’ first time using the MATRIX robotics system. They have only worked with EV3 before, so getting to explore new sensors and new ways of building was a big deal. So many “wait… it can do THAT?!” moments.
We were also lucky to have our board member Robyn Emerson there to experience it all with us.
We wrapped it up with a game drive at Ol Pejeta Conservancy, where a rhino decided to come say hello very up close 😅
Learning here does not stay in the classroom. That is exactly the point.

One year ago, their school got computers for the very first time.
In February, we introduced robotics.
By June, they won the National WRO Competition in Nairobi.
And today… these incredible kids from a rural community in Nanyuki, Kenya are on their way to Singapore to compete in the World Robotic Olympiad International Finals.
Their robot even has its own suitcase. 🧳🤖
Because this isn’t just a trip...it’s a milestone. A transformation. A door opening to a bigger world than they ever imagined.
Join us in wishing them the best of luck as they represent their school, their community, and Kenya on the global stage. 🌍❤️

A beautiful moment for our Sweet Waters robotics team from Nanyuki, Kenya!
With support from the local county governor’s office, each student and teacher received funds to help prepare for their upcoming trip to Singapore for the World Robotic Olympiad.
The team decided to use part of that support to buy something symbolic and practical: their very first suitcases.
For each of these kids (and teachers), this will be their first time leaving Kenya — and this small act of choosing a suitcase represents something much bigger: possibility, pride, and a community standing behind them. ❤️🌍🤖

At Ol Pejeta, conservation goes beyond protecting wildlife — it’s also about creating opportunities for the next generation.
Earlier this year, three students from Sweetwaters Primary and Junior School — Brian Mubea, Ryan Kiambuthi and Santana Tahri — built their very first robot. Just months later, they tied for first place nationally at the .international Kenya Finals. This November, they’ll travel to Singapore to represent Kenya on the international stage.
Their journey is part of a partnership between and Ol Pejeta, which has brought robotics to six community schools across Laikipia. More than 200 students now take part each year, developing creativity, teamwork and critical thinking skills that extend far beyond the classroom.
While robotics may seem far removed from wildlife conservation, it’s driven by the same goal — building a sustainable future powered by knowledge. Through our Conservation Education Programme, over 25,000 children visit Ol Pejeta each year to learn about ecosystems and environmental protection. We also support 36 local schools, helping over 9,000 students gain access to quality education through improved classrooms, dormitories and computer labs.
Partnering with NGOs like .education and , Ol Pejeta is expanding digital literacy and ensuring rural students aren’t left behind in the global tech revolution.
The Sweetwaters team’s success is proof of what’s possible when innovation meets access.
