Science In A Suitcase travel the globe teaching kids of all ages about the world of science, technology and the arts through robotics.

SCIENCE IN A SUITCASE partners with nonprofits around the world to spark children’s passions for science, technology, and the arts, igniting unlimited possibilities for their futures. Our STEAM based programs engage kids with hands-on learning experiences that foster creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, and give them the confidence that they can succeed.

After the World Robot Olympiad National Competition in Nairobi, our journey wasn't over.
Before heading home, we took our students to the Museum of Illusions in Nairobi, where science, art, math, and psychology come together in hands-on exhibits that challenge the way we see the world.

For many of these students, it was their first experience at a museum like this.
These moments are an important part of every trip we take. We want our students to explore new ideas, ask new questions, and discover that learning can happen anywhere.

Because we're not just teaching robotics. We're helping young people see new possibilities for themselves.❤️🤖

Beth is 10 years old. Rose is her teacher and assistant robotics coach.

We love this photo because it captures something we care deeply about: girls need to see women leading in STEM so they can begin to imagine themselves doing the same.

Girls make up about two-thirds of the students in our Kenya robotics programs, and we intentionally work with schools to build mixed-gender teams and develop female coaches.

Because representation matters.

What does success really look like?

Sometimes, it looks like a trophy. 🏆

But sometimes it looks like a student who didn't think they could do something, then figured it out.

It looks like a team taking apart a robot and rebuilding it when the first design doesn't work.

It looks like a girl discovering that she loves coding.

It looks like building programs where girls see women leading, and can begin to imagine themselves doing the same.

It looks like a student from rural Kenya traveling to Nairobi for the first time and realizing that the world is bigger than they imagined.

The robots matter. The competitions matter. But they're really a vehicle for something bigger: confidence, curiosity, resilience, teamwork, and problem-solving.

We celebrate the medals. But we're just as proud of the growth that happens along the way.

That's what success looks like to us. 💙

Three young innovators from Muramati Primary & Junior School in rural Kenya are getting ready for the adventure of a lifetime.

Beth, 10, Fidel, 10, and Ian, 11 earned an invitation to represent Kenya at the World Robot Olympiad Asia & Pacific Open Championship in Hyderabad, India this September after placing 2nd in Kenya's national competition.

For these students, this is about much more than robotics.

✈️ Their first time flying
🌍 Their first time leaving Kenya
🏨 For most, their first time staying in a hotel
🤖 Their first international robotics competition

And their journey is a powerful reminder of what happens when talented students are given opportunities to see how far they can go.

We're so grateful to Kenya Horticultural Exporters (KHE) for helping make this opportunity possible. We're raising the remaining funds needed to help the team make the journey to India.

🤖 Building Robots. Solving Real Problems.

This year was a big milestone for our robotics program in Kenya.

For the first time, our students competed in the World Robot Olympiad Future Innovators category, where teams design technology to solve real-world problems that matter to them.

Our team from Sweetwaters Girls Secondary School created a Yiaku Cultural Preservation Dancing Robot, inspired by this year's WRO theme, Robots Meet Culture. Their project explores how robotics can help preserve the Yiaku language and cultural traditions for future generations.

We're incredibly proud of these young women, not just for building a robot, but for using technology to celebrate and protect their community's heritage.

This is what innovation looks like. ❤️
