LAFF UTx

All LAFF courses have been extended one more year! We're never sure if this will happen since it takes negotiations with UT and edX. By extending and not restarting, we maintain free audits with access to all of the materials. Spread the word please.

Folks are still LAFFing. All four of the MOOC courses will be running until December 31, 2025. They are still free to audit and we still monitor the discussion boards daily. We don't know about the future, so LAFF while you can.

There was some concern about the future of our LAFF courses earlier this summer. However, we have just extended all of our offerings on the edX platform through December 2025. That means if you already signed up, you have even more time to complete. 😀 Please help us get the word out.

Happy July 2024! We intend to resume being active on FACEBOOK to better connect with our LAFF community that has grown over the last 10 years. We currently offer 4 courses on edX. We are so thankful for the learners who have helped shape them. LAFF long and prosper.

I received an announcement that edX is having a 20% off sale. Our MOOCs are still free to audit but verified certificates are usually $99 dollars now. All four run through Dec. 2023.

We have about 50 signed up for the ALAFF summer cohort and a half-dozen coming to office hours the first two weeks. We will again have office hours Saturday June 4 at 10:30 AM Texas time. Our intent is to answer questions about week 1 and introduce week 2. You are invited to join us. More information can be found on the discussion board of ALAFF on edX.

We're trying something new this summer. For Advanced Linear Algebra: Foundations to Frontiers (ALAFF), which is self-paced, graduate level, numerical linear algebra course, we have a summer cohort going through the material paced and have some office hours scheduled to answer questions to keep learners going. We hope this might add a sense of community as well as grounding the value of the course. If you are interested you can find more info on the edX discussion board and a button for the course or at www.ulaff.net . Recall that our courses can be audited for free and you get total access. This week is setting up (week 0) and next week will be course start. Zoom office hours will be on Saturday at 10:30 AM Texas time. Please help us get the word out.

Happy 2022! We have relaunched all of our MOOCs through December 2022. There is a change in price of the certificates. We have exemptions for ALL of the courses so that auditors have access to all of the materials for this run. Please help us get the word out that folks can keep LAFFing.
