Kealing Beginner's Band had a blast being hosted by the Mac Band Wind Ensemble yesterday!

🥁 TOMORROW is the Knight of Percussion Concert at McCallum HS!

6:50pm – Doors open. Event is free!
7pm – Concert begins
9:45pm – Approximate end of the concert.

This will be a professionally recorded event (video and audio!), so please refrain from flash photography.

The Knight of Percussion Concert is coming to McCallum High School on April 24!

This incredible two-night event will feature our Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble percussion students, a Kealing-only full percussion ensemble, AND a mass percussion ensemble with students from Lamar, McCallum, and Kealing — celebrating the talent of our entire vertical team!

Band Bash Social
Mark your calendars, Kealing Band families! Our Band Bash Social is coming up on May 8, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Roy G. Guerrero Park!

This is a wonderful chance for current AND incoming band students to hang out, celebrate the year, and enjoy some outdoor fun. 🌳🎶

Families are invited to donate light snack foods — chips, salsa, cookies, soda waters, and similar goodies. Check the Sign Up Genius to see what others are bringing!

Students: bring your favorite outdoor games and activity items too. Can't wait to see everyone there!

Save the date! Our End of Year Band Concert AND a special Band Dinner Celebration are both happening on May 13 at Kealing!

🎶 Concert – Kealing Large Gym
🍝 Dinner – Kealing Cafeteria, $20 per plate for students and adults (pay via Band Boosters Venmo)

Advanced Band families — Houston, here we come! The Advanced Band Houston Trip is scheduled for May 15 & 16!

More details about the itinerary, packing lists, and logistics will be shared as we get closer. Keep an eye on kealingband.com for updates!

What an amazing experience this will be for our Advanced Band students. So proud! 💙

Mark your calendars! The Advanced Band Solo & Ensemble Festival is scheduled for May 18, 3:30 – 5:30 PM after school.

This is a wonderful opportunity for our Advanced Band students to showcase their individual and small ensemble talents. We'll share more details as we get closer — stay tuned!

Eastside HS Graduation Performance
Attention 7th & 8th grade musicians — here's a very special opportunity!

Eastside High School Band Director Riqia Owens is inviting Kealing 7th & 8th graders to perform with the Eastside High School Band at their graduation on June 3. This is a fantastic chance to get a real high school band experience!

📅 June 3 – Graduation Performance, 10:00 AM (arrive at Eastside Early College HS by 8:00 AM for the bus to Burger Arena)
Tentative Rehearsal: May 26 at Eastside (transportation provided, pending admin approval)
Transportation and meals are fully provided!

Join us for Instrument Tryout Day, happening alongside the Choice Sheet Fair for incoming Kealing students. Families can drop in, try out instruments, and get a feel for what band is all about.

Wind Ensemble just swept all categories at the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation this morning. Division 1 across the board. Let's gooo, Wind Ensemble. That's how it's done.

Which means... ALL THREE BANDS. Sweepstakes. Every single one. This program just did something special, and every student and director in it deserves to feel that today.

This community has watched these kids grind all year long — after school sectionals, late rehearsals, and everything in between. It all led to this. What a way to end the week.

And none of it happens without the people leading the way. A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Hinojosa and Ms. DeVall for their dedication, their vision, and their unwavering belief in every single one of these students. This program is a reflection of you.

Let's make some noise for our band program! 🎊🎉They've more than earned it.

Symphonic Band outperformed in all categories this morning at the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation. Top marks. Every judge. Every category — again.

These kids showed up, locked in, and handled business. That kind of performance takes dedication, grit, and directors who refuse to let them settle for anything less than their best.

Two bands down. So proud of this program. 🎶

Our Concert Band just brought home the HIGHEST honor in Texas UIL music competition at today's UIL Concert Performance and Sight-Reading Evaluation. 🏆🎺

A UIL Band Sweepstakes award means our band earned a Division 1 "Superior" rating from ALL judges in BOTH concert performance AND sight-reading. Straight 1s. Every judge. Every category.

To our amazing Concert Band students: YOUR hard work, dedication, and countless hours of practice made this happen. You walked in ready, performed with heart, and absolutely delivered. We are so proud of every single one of you. 👏

And a huge thank you to our incredible directors, whose guidance, patience, and passion push these kids to reach their full potential. None of this happens without you. 🙌

But we're just getting started. Our Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble take the stage TOMORROW — come out and cheer them on as they go for Sweepstakes too. Let's keep this energy going all week!
