Football

Due to scheduling changes next year we will be moving from before school practices to after school practices. Practice will begin on the first day of school. Practice will typically run from 4pm to 6pm.

Players will be responsible for providing their own:

-Cleats and socks

-Black integrated football pants

-Mouth Guard (If player has braces)

We will have a football mini camp on August 3rd through the 6th from 9am to 11am each morning on the Lamar Football Field. I will post a sign up form for this camp in the coming weeks.

📜 From the Quill of Lady Scottiedown 📜

Dearest families and esteemed members of our fine school community, lend me your attention as we approach the final fortnight of this academic season—a most bustling and spirited time indeed. With only two weeks remaining, our halls shall soon be filled with the excitement of field trips, the rigor of end-of-semester examinations, and the inevitable farewell (if only temporary) to those ever-present Chromebooks.

Come Monday, May 18th, said devices shall be collected. However, students will retain their chargers and are strongly advised to safeguard them in a place most memorable, lest next year begin in a most inconvenient fashion.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes, our diligent counseling team labors tirelessly over course verifications. You shall soon receive an email inviting you to review student course selections. Do note, dear reader, this is not a finalized schedule, but rather your final opportunity to ensure all requested courses are correct. Once schedules are set, changes born merely of a “change of heart” shall not be entertained, as staffing and the master schedule depend upon these very selections.

As anticipation for summer grows ever stronger, so too have we noticed a spirited rise in student behavior. A gentle word before your scholar departs each morning—a reminder to make wise and thoughtful choices—can work wonders in maintaining the grace and decorum we so admire.

In preparation for the grand finale of the year, including the 8th grade promotion, we find ourselves in need of generous 6th and 7th grade parent volunteers. The post-promotion departure is nothing short of a “mass exodus,” and additional hands would be most appreciated. A SignUpGenius awaits your consideration (linked below), now expanded to welcome more willing participants.

Before I take my leave, a moment of gratitude must be observed. To our remarkable staff, our steadfast administration, our ever-supportive PTA, and our dedicated parents—we offer our sincerest thanks.

And a most special acknowledgment to the incomparable Tava Tournant, whose extraordinary efforts have graced our front office with a new refrigerator and an abundance of chairs, lamps, and supplies. Your contributions have not gone unnoticed, dear Tava—you are truly a gem among us.

Dearest Parents and Guardians,

It is with great intrigue (and no small amount of theatrical sighing) that this author announces we have entered the final three weeks of the school year. A most dramatic season indeed—one marked by big emotions, wavering patience, and students whose self-regulation has taken an early summer holiday.

Our 8th graders, ever the seasoned socialites, are utterly finished with middle school life, yet secretly tremble at the thought of high school’s grand stage. The 7th graders spy the top of the hierarchy and cannot help but imagine themselves there very soon, while our rising 6th graders are growing more comfortable—perhaps too comfortable—with the freedoms bestowed upon them by middle school society.

With all of this transition comes, understandably, a mild uptick in behavior concerns. Rest assured, dear reader, instruction continues—much to the dismay of certain scholars—and we are pressing on with engaging lessons, exciting events, and eagerly anticipated field trips to carry us through.

This author would be remiss not to offer a rousing applause to our most devoted PTA and the many parents who showered our teachers with kind letters and thoughtful tokens during Teacher Appreciation Week. The joy on our teachers’ faces did not go unnoticed and will surely sustain them through these final, spirited days.

Hold steady, dear families. Together, united in patience and perseverance, we shall make it to the end of the year.
