🎉🐾 ONE WEEK DOWN, SCOTTIES! 🐾🎉

We made it through our first week of school! 💜 What a week it has been! We are so proud of our students and staff for jumping into the new school year with excitement, patience, and plenty of Scottie spirit! 🐾

As we head into Week 2, we have one little favor to ask our Lamar families: please help us keep schedules handy! 📚 If your student needs a copy of their schedule, consider gluing a copy into a notebook or simply writing it down rather than asking the front office to print another copy.

We are currently very low on paper, and our front office staff needs to get back to their regularly scheduled duties of supporting students, teachers, and administrators. We know schedules can be confusing, especially during the first few weeks, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we get everyone settled! 💜

🐾💜 A Special Visit to Lamar! 💜🐾

We were so excited to welcome Superintendent Segura to Lamar today! He was greeted in true Scottie style by our amazing cheerleaders and drum line before heading out to experience just a little of what makes Lamar so special. 🐾🥁📣

His tour included an Archery demonstration by our incredible 3-time State Champion Archery Team! 🏹🏆🏆🏆 Along the way, he got to admire some of the amazing artwork and Jr. Vase work created by our talented Art Majors. 🎨✨

Next stop was the science classroom, where Mr. Sosa gave us a fascinating look at biology and chemistry in action! 🔬🧪

We then headed over to the Dance Building, where our Company dancers performed two incredible numbers. 💃🩰 What a way to showcase the talent, creativity and passion that live in our halls every single day!

We are proud to be a Fine Arts Academy where students get to learn, create, compete and perform at the highest levels. 💜🐾

💜🐾 FIRST DAY BACK, SCOTTIES! 🐾💜

And just like that… we’re back! 🎉 We hope our Lamar Scotties had a fantastic first day and that our parents got some positive reports when everyone walked through the door tonight. We are SO excited to rock the rest of this week! 🤘💜

A few friendly reminders as we get back into our routines:

🚗 Wynona Ave Drop-Off & Pick-Up: If you are using Wynona Avenue, please be mindful of our neighbors and do not block driveways. We want to be good neighbors and keep traffic moving safely!

🏫 Our Front Office: This time of year is BUSY, BUSY, BUSY! We are also down a few staff members, and our amazing team is working hard to support our students, teachers, and administrators. We know things can take a little longer than usual, so please give our staff a little extra patience and grace. 💜

📚 Forgotten Items: We completely understand—students forget things! If you need to drop something off for your student, please put their name clearly on the item and place it on the purple cart in the front office. If your student knows you are bringing something and can stop by the office during a passing period to pick it up, that is EXTREMELY helpful and keeps the office running smoothly.

⏰ After 3:30: For our new families—and as a reminder to our returning families—we cannot get students after 3:30 p.m. Please plan accordingly.

🐾💜 SCOTTIES ON BOARD WAS A BLAST! 💜🐾

What a FUN Friday it was seeing so many new and returning Scottie faces at our Scotties On Board event! 🐾💜 We absolutely LOVE this new Lamar tradition that Principal Brunner brought to our campus! It was so much fun welcoming everyone back and getting ready for another amazing school year. 🎉

We know the start of a new school year can bring nerves, excitement, and even a little anxiety—especially when schedules don’t look quite right.If something is incorrect on your schedule and you filled out the counseling form, please continue following your current schedule until you receive a new one. If something is incorrect (i.e., missing a class period, duplicated classes, missing FAA requirement) and you filled out the counseling form, please continue to follow your current schedule. Counseling will reach out to the individual that filled out the form to let them know if the change is possible. We know this isn’t ideal, but our counselors are working hard to get everything sorted out. 💜

In the meantime, let’s try to look at those schedule changes as new opportunities to meet new friends, discover new classes, and make new memories! 🥰 Sometimes the unexpected turns into something pretty great!

We are READY, we are EXCITED, and we CAN’T WAIT to see all of your smiling faces Tuesday morning! 🐾💜

🎉🐾 BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT IS COMING, SCOTTIES! 🐾🎉

We’re kicking off another amazing school year with our Lamar Middle School Back to School Night! 💜🖤

Join us Wednesday, August 26 for an evening designed just for our parents and caregivers! Come walk your student’s daily schedule, meet their teachers, explore campus, ask questions, and get connected. 📚✨

⏰ 5:30–8:00 PM
📍 Lamar Middle School

🐾 Doors open at 5:00 PM so you can stop by the cafeteria to visit with our Booster Clubs and PTA. Lamar merchandise will also be available for purchase! 💜

Each class period will be 10 minutes, with 5-minute passing periods between classes.

We can’t wait to welcome our Scottie families back to campus! Let’s make it a great year!

📚✨ EXCITING NEWS✨📚

We are SO proud to share that the one and only Ms. Kestner, one of the cornerstones of our Math Department, may have retired from Lamar, but thankfully she hasn’t left us completely! 💜🐾

While we will certainly miss seeing her every day, we are thrilled that Ms. Kestner is beginning a new adventure as a private Math tutor! ➗✏️

Does your child need a little extra help with Math? Maybe they need some extra confidence, a little boost before a big test, or perhaps they simply miss Ms. Kestner’s dry wit and wicked sense of humor (which, let’s be honest, was half the fun! 😂).

Either way, this is your chance to keep one of Lamar’s best educators in your child’s corner!
