Bush Baby Beer

Bush Baby Beer

My father, the original Bush Baby, was born in rural Kenya otherwise known as "the bush". The brewery sent him to Scotland to learn the craft of brewing.

He herded his family's goats protecting them from lions and other animals as well as thieves, from about age 5-9. At that point his family was sent to live in a prison camp for 4 years during the Kenyan war for independence. At about age 13 he began school and was very eager to get an education so that he could live a better life than herding goats. After college he began working for Kenya Brewery

We recently had the honor of visiting our good friend Bruce Collie down in Wimberley at his famous family owned and operated Brewster's Pizzeria. Bruce, his wife and their THIRTEEN wonderful children keep that place running in "ship shape". They served us up a delicious wheat crust pizza and one of the beers he brews on sight, Drop The Rabbit. Check out their page (brewsters-pizza) and websites (www.brewsterspizza.com, www. wimberleybrewingcompany.com), and if you have the chance DEFINITELY drop in and meet them (closed Mondays). They are a terrific family and Bruce personally helped teach us how to brew back in our early days :-)
