Mainspring families: get ready to connect!

Mainspring Schools is built on a commitment to the Family First Approach, supporting every member of Mainspring families, from students to caregivers. Part of this family first approach is our popular weekly support groups returning this June! Tentatively meeting Mondays from 5:30–6:45 PM, these gatherings are the perfect place for caregivers to meet, share, and build community together.

Mark your calendars! It’s time for the Mainspring Annual Crawfish Boil. Join us in celebrating this joyful tradition on April 22nd at 5:00 PM! All Mainspring families are welcome.

Mainspring wouldn’t be the little school doing big things without volunteers like Amy Hurt!
Amy found her way to Mainspring through a Junior League of Austin volunteer opportunity. Once she saw our students and mission in action, she knew she had to get involved. Since joining our Board of Directors in 2019, she’s led our Development Committee, shared our story, and shown up for our community.

It’s Butterfly Month at Mainspring!

All month long, students are getting a front-row seat to one of nature’s most magical journeys: watching butterflies move through each stage of their lifecycle up close. At the end of the month, our young learners will have witnessed crawling caterpillars become soaring butterflies that we’ll release together!

💛 Mainspring families, you won’t want to miss this one! Join us for Family Supper on 3/25 from 5:30–6:30 PM for good food and great community that makes our little school so special. 🍽️

✨Did you know your recycling bin is a treasure trove of items that spark creativity in our classrooms? Loose parts — bottle caps, cardboard tubes, fabric scraps, and more — fuel imagination, problem-solving, and play for Mainspring students every single day.

🌱 GiveBack ATXKids

💛 We are excited to announce our partnership with the Austin Child Guidance Center (ACGC)!
Starting mid-March, a therapist from the ACGC, a leader in children’s mental healthcare, will work directly with our teachers to deepen trauma-informed care skills. Not only will teachers learn how best to care for young minds, staff will also get support from the ACGC for their own mental health, leading by example as they learn more about self-care.

At Mainspring, we believe caring for the whole child starts with caring for the whole community. We’re grateful for partners who share that vision! 🌱

Mainspring kids are learning what it means to be a member of our special school community! 🌟

🧀🐛🚒👮Over the past few weeks, Mainspring welcomed incredible community helpers: kitchen staff who made crackers with the kids, a Mainspring dad and exterminator (complete with fake creepy crawlies), and local police and firefighters who shared how they serve Austin.

It takes a village and our students are learning how to be helpful villagers. Thank you to every community hero who helps our students grow! 💛
