This week's JUDA Hebrew School was all about Pesach! We learned about the story of Exodus from an interactive video, with challenges to review; we had a pop-up game to learn about the foods we eat and avoid on Pesach, and concluded with a Ma Nishtana ice-cream party!

At the Red Carpet Purim we partied like Shushan celebrities!

First we designed our own graggers, to use while listening to the Megillah; then we prepared our Mishloach Manot, the food gifts that we will give to our friends - we designed our very own mocktails and star cake pops. Then we made mask-costumes to review the Purim characters and enhance our costumes!

For the grand finale, we all went up to the red carpet runway show to display our costumes!

Purim is in the air at JUDA Hebrew School!

We explored the story and message of Purim with a BIG book storytelling, and acted out the story with puppets. We also sequenced Purim dominos as we heard the story, and made a Rube Goldberg domino effect to highlight what a child’s Mitzvah accomplishes.

This past week at JUDA Hebrew School, we learned about two twins, as different as can be. The elder, Eisav, was a hunter and spent his days fulfilling his selfish desires. The other, Yaakov, loved to learn Torah day and night.

We had a blast creating our own slime soup, adding in charms and other tactile elements, as we heard the story of Yaakov and Eisav.

Then we had a game-show to review everything we've learned so far about our Patriarchs and Matriarchs up until this point of the year!

This week we celebrated Tu Bishvat, the new year for trees and plants! We had a Tu Bishvat resort, featuring:
The soap studio, where we made natural soaps with pressed flowers and fruity fragrances;
The health club, where we participated in a full body meditation experience;
The tea room, where we tasted a variety of refreshing tea flavors and prepared our favorite blend to take home;
and the granola cafe, where we sampled some healthy bites and made a personalized trail mix combo to take home and enjoy. Was incredible!

That was such a fun day at JUDA Hebrew School!

We continued the saga of Avraham, his son Yitzchak, and our Matriarch Rivkah. Yitzchak married her because of her tremendous kindness - a very important quality for every Jew - and we had a fun scavenger hunt to find Rivkah, and found different props of the story all over the building.

Yitzchak's mother, Sarah, was the first Jewish woman to light Shabbat candles and bake challah every week, and this was continued by Rivkah. We followed in our Matriarchs' footsteps by making our own challah and learning how to braid the twisted loaves

This week we explored the hospitality of our great-great grandparents Avraham and Sarah, and how they were very kind to everyone they met.

We got divided into two teams: Some of us built a life-size model of Avraham and Sarah’s tent out of straws.; and the other half of us put together some yummy food, as we baked a homemade laffa for our guests—and then we practiced being like Avraham and Sarah and hosted guests in our tent! Welcome, welcome, and please make yourself at home! We are learning from their example to treat everyone with respect, love and kindness.

Today we explored the story of Avraham: When Avraham was a little boy of three he discovered that there was a Creator. G-d blessed Avraham to have children like the stars - and that's us! We are Avraham’s great-great-grandchildren!

We then reflected on what it means to be Avraham’s great-great-grandchildren as we made a special photo keepsake - Shrinky D***s which had our very own picture, attached to a keychain-star!
