Happy International Women and Girls in Science Day! One of my favorite parts of working with children is when little girls tell me that they have never met a “Dinosaur Lady” before and that they want to be a paleontologist, too!

Growing up, almost all my scientist role models were men on television. (Except for my own dad, who is a chemist!) I adored Jeff Corwin, Steve Irwin, and Bill Nye, the Science Guy. But I did have a book about Mary Anning, caught some interviews with the incredible Dr. Jane Goodall, and enjoyed every minute I got to spend watching the beloved Ms. Frizzle.

Representation matters! So cheer on your favorite female scientist or aspiring scientist today!

Brrrrrrr! It’s cold here in Texas right now, which has me thinking about the coldest place on Earth: Antarctica! Did you know that dinosaur fossils have been discovered there under the polar ice caps? Some fascinating finds, given fun names like Glacialisaurus! Of course, Antarctica wasn’t icy when dinosaurs roamed there, showing how much Earth has changed over millions of years.

“Wimberley! Wimberley! It’s where I’d rather be!” As a former summer camper in the town, I have fond memories of singing those words. Now I’m just as thrilled to visit Wimberley Village Library! Thank you, Youth Librarian Miss Beth for always offering the warmest welcome. What an amazing turnout for the first show of 2026!

I’ve been visiting this museum since I was in fourth grade! School field trips. IMAX movies. Out of town visitors. Special exhibits. So to be able to present there about my professional passion? Very special! And their kind words? T.-riffic!
