I’ve loved seeing families continue to sign up for our next Kemi session, Our Family, Our Song, happening this Saturday at Dawa Studio in Austin 💛

We’ll be spending time exploring connection, rhythm, creativity, and shared family experiences in a calm and intentional environment.

The way they communicate, move through challenges, laugh together, support each other, and show love.

That’s the inspiration behind our next Kemi session, Our Family, Our Song, happening May 23 at Dawa Studio in Austin.

This experience will invite families into a calm, creative space centered around rhythm, reflection, expression, and connection.

That’s what these Kemi sessions are for.

It’s a small, intentional space where families come together to connect, reflect, and spend time with each other in a different way.

Not just voices—but tone, energy, how you respond to each other in everyday moments.

You can usually feel it.
You don’t always name it.

Try this tonight:
Pay attention to how your family sounds at dinner, in the car, during a small moment.

No correcting. No fixing.

We ask questions when kids are:
• tired
• overstimulated
• distracted

And then we think they’re not opening up.

Kemi Family Reset:
Before asking your child anything today, pause and ask yourself:

👉 “Are they regulated enough to respond?”

If not, don’t push the conversation.
Sit with them.
Let things settle.

Kemi is not built alone.

Each session is supported by people who show up with care, intention, and a willingness to create space for families to feel seen and connected.

From helping families settle in, to supporting activities, to simply being present, this work is made possible by a team that believes in what Kemi represents.

In our first Kemi session, A Love Letter to My Family, we were guided by Kraven Rowry through a powerful experience centered on reflection, connection, and care.

Her ability to blend music with emotional expression created a space where families could slow down and truly be present with one another.

As the founder of Kemi, I’m intentional about who I invite into these spaces. Kraven’s work, including her project Made for Each Other: A Journey Through Grief, reflects a deep commitment to using music as a pathway for healing and connection.

Each Kemi session is thoughtfully designed to meet families where they are, while also bringing together facilitators and community voices that align with that purpose.

In our Leading with Care session, we paused for a simple moment by the water and asked:

“What do you notice?”
“What do you see?”

It’s easy to fall into the same routine questions like “How was school?” — but sometimes a small shift opens up something different.

Questions like these create space for curiosity, exploration, and real connection.

Sometimes it’s not about having the perfect moment… just a different way of being present in the one you’re already in. 💛
