We are excited to introduce our new percussion director!

Mr. Jason Scott Russell is very excited to be joining the Cedar Creek High School Eagle Band. Mr. Russell comes from the Connally High School and Westview Middle School Band programs in Pflugerville ISD where he just finished 24 years as assistant band director/director of percussion.

Under Mr. Russell’s direction, both the CHS Symphonic Band and Jazz Band have received numerous first
division ratings and awards. Additionally, the Connally Marching Percussion Ensemble has won two
TCGC (Percussion Scholastic A) silver medals and six TCGC (Percussion Scholastic A) championships.

Mr. Russell is a graduate of Texas State University in San Marcos where he earned a Bachelor’s of Music Education and a Master’s of Music Education. He is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association, and Who’s Who of American Teachers.

In addition to his teaching, Mr. Russell is in constant demand as a professional musician. He has
performed with many orchestras, jazz, latin, funk, blues, country, and pop musical groups in the Austin area.

Mr. Russell resides with his wife Tricia (a choir director at Hutto HS), his daughter Mary, and his sons
Luke and Christian. He enjoys movies, books, basketball, roller blading, biking and is a diehard Green Bay Packers fan.

We are excited to introduce you to our new Assistant Director, Ms. Kennedy! Here’s some more about her:

Ms. Kaitlyn Kennedy recently finished student teaching at Sapulpa Public Schools and she is excited to join the
staff for the Cedar Creek Eagle Band!

Ms. Kennedy is originally from Denton, TX where she attended Lake Dallas High School. While at LDHS, Ms. Kennedy served as Assistant Drum Major for the 2016 and 2017 marching season, leading her peers in UIL Area B Finals for the first time in LDHS Falcon Band history!

As a recent graduate from Oklahoma State University, Ms. Kennedy enjoyed being a member of the Cowboy Marching Band where she marched mellophone. Ms. Kennedy’s primary instrument is french horn, but she has recently enjoyed playing flute and oboe also!

Ms. Kennedy has experience marching mellophone with the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps from 2019-2021. She is continuing her love for DCI by working with the Blue Knights brass staff as their mellophone instructor.

In her free time, Ms. Kennedy enjoys spending time with her friends and her dog Jax. Ms. Kennedy and Jax often enjoy the occasional hiking or camping trip!
