Bohr was an accomplished physicist who came up with a theory on atomic structures and radiation emission. He was the first to apply the , which restricts the energy of a system to certain discrete values, to the problem of atomic and molecular structure. For this work he received the for Physics in 1922.

Bohr’s first contribution to the emerging new idea of quantum physics started in 1912 during what today would be called postdoctoral research in England with at the University of Manchester.....

Didier Queloz (Nobel Prize in Physics, 2019)

The morning of 8 October 2019 was not going well for physicist Didier Queloz.

“My day was really awful, I had a problem with my bike. I had to fix my bike and I was late. The day was starting really on the wrong foot. And then it turned in another direction after this phone call."

Queloz was in a meeting when his university press office called to tell him he had been awarded the 2019 Nobel Prize in Physics. He shared the prize with James Peebles and Michel Mayor.

“They asked me what I would do with the prize and I was so annoyed with the bike I said I’m going to buy a new bike!”
