Frederick Douglass, a prominent Black abolitionist and author who escaped slavery, supported Clara Barton's efforts to establish the American Red Cross.

Having been impressed by Barton’s aid to soldiers who were Black during the Civil War and her desire to improve the protection of the wounded during wartime, Douglass signed the original Articles of Incorporation for the Red Cross in 1881.

February was designated as Black History Month by Dr. Carter G. Woodson in honor of Douglass’ birthday, February 14 and Abraham Lincoln’s birthday, February 12.

Commemorate 100 years of Black History by making history. Roll up a sleeve to give blood or put on a Red Cross vest to volunteer. Use the Red Cross Blood DonorApp, visit RedCrossBlood.org/OurBlood,
redcross.org/volunteer, or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) today.

Hi, my name is Alisha Smith, and I’m the Owner and Lead Instructor of ASP Certified CPR & Training.
Let me ask you a question.
What would you do if your child started choking?
Most people would say, “Call 911.”
And yes — you should. But the average response time for emergency services is 3 to 4 minutes. In an emergency, those minutes matter.
As moms, parents, caregivers, and leaders of our homes, it’s our responsibility to ensure the safety of our children and loved ones. The good news? There’s something you can do before help arrives.
You can be prepared.
Getting certified in Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED gives you the confidence, knowledge, and hands-on skills to respond immediately in a life-threatening situation.
This is the service I proudly provide through ASP Certified CPR & Training.
I would love to equip you with the tools, experience, and training you need to stay calm, act fast, and potentially save a life — because when every second counts, you don’t want to hesitate.
Be prepared. Be confident. Be the difference.
