4th and 5th grade played the Phrase Game for their fall fun activity. This game makes the students practice listening for phrases as the students have to place their crescendo strip on the board on their phrase. They had to be careful to not move to soon or to late as they were only allowed to move on their phrase. This game is played to Edvard Grieg’s composition, “In the Hall of the Mountain King” from the Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, Op. 46

2nd and 3rd graders played the Pass the Pumpkin game for our fall fun activity. Not only was it fun but students got to learn how to play many different instruments and the song was in a minor key to make it a spooky sound.

1st graders worked on the steady beat while singing the song “Five Green Speckled Frogs”. We are privileged this term to have a high school helper Dane Comer. He is in the high school band and choir and knows how to play the guitar and ukulele. He is a talented musician and the students have had fun working with him this term!

What is the difference between the rhythm and the beat? 2nd graders have been working on this with one of our favorite songs “Bate, Bate”. Watch how independent they are on their contrasting parts as the drums play the beat and the rhythm sticks play the rhythm.

Some 3rd Grade Classes got to play Staff Battleship. This game is a fun way to practice reading notes on the line and spaces.
