AxellMedia Founded in 2008 under the name BEAphotography, changing in 2010 to Axell Photography, we have made a business out of Candid and Action photography.

When I gave my son his first camera around his 14th birthday he made an immediate bond to the medium. I made sure he was enrolled in photography classes during school which he passed with high praise. After graduating he moved into a photography program for several years, he made the decision to leave the course after having some creative differences with students and decided to study at his own pace. Which turned out to be pretty fast. Still looking for a specific niche he started volunteering at the local Humane Society... he had always had a love for animals but never had an outlet to work with them. Through the course of around 5 years he honed his skills and settled on his preferred clientele, Animals. You can often find him at animal-centered events around the state, he is even a highly sought after photographer in the NYC area. Please note, you will NOT be able to get in touch with Bill through this page, he is not a fan of Social Media. When he decided to have an online presence and made a website (which he still has not finished) I tried to convince him to make a page as well, he told me that I could make a page for him if I so desired. He gives me his work and I post it for him... keeping a social media presence.

!!WHAT A SHOW!!

I had an absolutely fantastic time photographing Billy Joel Legacy at the Waterville Opera House a few weeks ago!

What an incredible, high-energy production! From start to finish, the music, the talent, and the energy on that stage made this an absolute blast to photograph. There was certainly no shortage of great moments to capture!

If Billy Joel Legacy comes to a venue anywhere near you, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO SEE IT! You won't regret it!

In 1896, Peter A. Walter built a group of automatons that could sing and play music.

Somewhere along the way there were giant mechanical giraffes, copper elephants, Blue Matter, wars, dimensional rifts, space travel, 130 years of repairs... and eventually a stage full of lights, smoke and music.

Steam Powered Giraffe.

Sometimes you have to pull the camera back and photograph the entire wonderfully ridiculous machine at work.

Two robots.

Both built in 1896.

One is a stoic, titanium-spined automaton who spends much of his time trying to behave like a normal human.

The other was assembled from three unfinished prototype robots, became a millionaire television celebrity, lost his fortune investing in the concept of love, and once dragged a yacht named Floaty Time all the way back to Walter Manor.

Somehow... they ended up in the same band.

Keeping 130-year-old Blue Matter-powered automatons functioning apparently requires a very specialized support staff.

Enter the Walter Workers... highly trained Walter Blue Matter Engineers tasked with keeping the robots operating properly during performances.

And the blue hair and unusually pale complexions?

Absolutely NOTHING to do with prolonged exposure to Blue Matter.

Walter Robotics assures us this is completely normal.

Honestly, eventually you just stop asking questions.

Meet Toast, the newest robot to join Steam Powered Giraffe... complete with a circus-inspired design, Expand-O Almost-Never-Ending Pockets, a wooden train whistle, and a double-reinforced Blue Matter core because apparently self-exploding has been an issue.

This wraps up the small selection I’ve been sharing, but definitely does **not** mean these are all the photos I took.

I photographed each competitor throughout the games and have roughly **50 images of each person**, so there are still plenty of photos that never made it into these posts.

Built in 1896, equipped with a titanium-alloy spine, Tesla coils, Blue Matter weaponry... and one of the most iconic silhouettes in Steam Powered Giraffe.

The Spine is the kind of character you can recognize almost instantly... that sharp profile, the posture, the mechanical elegance... unmistakable.

For an automaton originally created more than 130 years ago, he’s holding up pretty well. Then again... I suppose replacing parts as they wear out helps.
