Meet the Cart Strategist 🛒

These savvy consumers buy only what they’ll actually use. Before they ever get to the store, they check the fridge, freezer, and pantry to see what’s already there. Then they shop with a list, built around that inventory, not around whatever looks good in the aisle.

This one habit eliminates two of the biggest sources of wasted food at once: buying food you already have and buying food with no plan for how it’ll get used.

If gusty winds and rain are in your forecast, make plans to secure your recycling and solid waste containers. Winds can blow recyclables or trash creating litter, and flooding rain can sweep up unsecured containers creating a safety hazard in our streets. Help keep our streets safe for first responders and our solid waste crews by securing your containers.

If strong winds leave limbs and branches in your yard, don’t toss these items in with trash or your recycling. Check locally for the storm debris pick-up schedule or drop-off locations.

Don’t miss this session! Hear Nikhil Balachandran, Zabble, share how technology can play a critical role in operationalizing EPR and organics policy mandates by providing real-time insights into contamination, participation, and behavior at the point of disposal. By adopting technology to identify contamination hotspots, communities can deliver tailored, actionable education directly to residents and businesses and measure program effectiveness. Josh Mastromatto, Rego, will share lessons for using AI analysis to collect reliable data, involve frontline staff and community participants, and turn audit findings into decisions about purchasing, hauling, infrastructure, and education. Attendees will leave with a practical framework for making waste measurement more affordable and scalable while maintaining human quality assurance.

Even though EPR is in effect in only seven states, those seven states account for almost 20% of the US population. If driven to make packaging changes, most brands will make changes on a national basis which will impact recycling on a national basis. Don’t miss the chance to hear Susan share case studies from different product categories and how companies are looking to gain better visibility into supply chains, material composition, and actual recyclability.
